Divine Secrets of the YaYa Sisterhood (great cast and cute Irish boyfriend!)
Hope Floats (Sandra Bullock and Harry Connick Jr - yummy!)
Little Voice (a very young Ewan McGregor, great story - British film)
The Long Long Trailer (Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz - very funny and very cute - also great clothes from the 50s!)
Amelie - quirky, savvy, artsy, and ADORABLE French film
Bella - an independent film that's not really a comedy but it will leave you feeling GREAT!

Edward Scissorhands is hardcore slasher, I only reserve that for the mst fundamental gore-lovers.

A Walk on the Moon - This isn't just a good Viggo Mortenson movie.......it is THE Viggo Mortenson movie, IMO. The problem is that it doesn't wind up being all that cheery (but you get some great shots of the delicious Viggo).

But a comedy? And a chick flick? I'd honestly go with The Truth About Cats and Dogs or When Harry Met Sally. Both are very cute and endearing.
