I tend to think authoritarianism is directed toward the citizens
You mean, like defying the entirety of government and international law? Since the majority of Americans are in favour of immigration, I guess that makes the Governor of Texas authoritarian.
and not toward the foreigners he's trying to hard to protect and unleash on the public.
Those foreigners are looking to become immigrants and refugees, ie: American citizens. If you believe them simply
living in America is "unleashing them", then perhaps - dare I say it - you may just be a teensy bit racist.
If you really don't like it, move. America was built on immigrants. It literally depends on them. Racists, it can do without.
Look at these poor misunderstood puppy dogs trying to have a good life in the country they invaded...
Literally calling immigrants and refugees
invaders. Good to see you finally embraced explicit ethno-nationalism.
Meanwhile, in reality, immigrants and refugees are permitted into the country, as per the law - both federal and international. Texas is opposing these laws, and defying federal authority. A bill has been proposed that would give people like you 90% of what you want, and you reject it because you literally want Biden to CLOSE THE BORDER UNILATERALLY (literally, you want him to impose authoritarian control instead of making a bi-partisan decision). Because what you claim you want is not
really what you want. You say you want less divisive government, but you refuse bi-partisan solutions. You say you want democracy, then you reject democratic leadership and support overturning federal mandates. You say you don't want authoritarianism, then you decry Biden for doing things according to due law and process rather than just seizing control unilaterally.
I'm sorry that democracy isn't authoritarian enough for you. I'm equally sorry that the guy who won a free and fair election isn't he guy you wanted. I'm sorry that you may have to share your country with people of a darker skin hue than you. But, y'know, that seems like a
you problem.
See, this is why this bill was an obviously dumb idea. Republicans don't want compromise. They don't even really care about border security. They care about total capitulation and authoritarian control. That's literally all this is.
