Neopaganism on Long Island

Good morning everyone....

I find myself more and more interested in Neopaganism, and I am wondering if anyone can point me toward any groups on Long Island, or maybe lists of groups on the web. Also can anyone recommend any good books for me to learn from?

Thanks!

One of the better directories of Neopagan groups on the web is Witches' Voice. There are also a ton of Neopagan-specific networking sites that have popped up over the last five years or so. Facebook doubtless has some groups, and there are also sites like Pagan Space. Local metaphysical shops are often in the know as far as groups go, so if you can locate any of those in your area (Witches' Voice can be helpful for that as well), I would check them out.

As for books, it really depends on what kind of direction you're going in. For a good overview of Neopaganism that is a bit more academic (but not too academic) the eBook Seeking the Mystery: An Introduction to Pagan Theologies by C.H. Kraemer is an excellent overview of the movement as a whole that will familiarize you with various theological terms and undercurrents of how we practice. For something that is better at helping you explore and structure your own path, Joyce & River Higginbotham's Paganism: An Introduction to Earth-Centered Religions is still the best I've seen. It doesn't cover everything, but it forces you to think about some of the big questions; it can start you off on developing your theology and practice no matter what path you end up on (even if it isn't Neopagan!).
