new Easter Cross

Terrywoodenpic

Earlier in the year I was asked to make a new Easter cross as the previous one has disintegrated through age.
We use it at Easter, first Just covered in fir fronds with a purple drape on it.
On Friday during the service The congregation can go up in turn and each insert a red carnation in remembrance.
I went over this afternoon as my daughter Sarah, was starting to dress it in oasis and fir. (She is chief flower lady.)
I will not see the finished thing till later

This was as far as she had got.

No offense but was there a second choice?

I don't want to undermine your craftsmanship in what you have made, but have you ever given consideration to what idolatry is?
One definition is: Idol; Idolatry. An idol is an image, a representation of anything, real or imagined, that people may use in worship. Idolatry is the veneration, love, worship, or adoration of an idol.

1Corinthians 10:14 (King James Version) Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.

Don't bring this crap into this thread. It's very rude.

To what are you referring?
You insinuating that the cross is "idol worship". This isn't the thread or the subforum for that. I realize that you are new, so I'm sorry that I was harsh. The DIRs (the blue forums) are not for debating. That's what the debate forums are for.

Were you to have replied in a non DIR thread I might have answered your argument.
However I do not subscribe to Idolatry. or rudeness.

Terry.... you have given Kaleb a 'like' for that post....... a mistake, maybe.

I like your Cross, but I was worried about the small size of it's base.
If anybody bumps it, it might lose balance.
Do you bolt it to the floor?

I went, as a guest, to an Easter Service last evening (Friday) ....... most interesting. JWs pass the wine and bread around the congregation but do not 'take' of it. It's a long time since I went to any service.

Actually it is quite stable, the base is rather larger than the previous one. It took my weight 15 stones swinging on the cross bar. Not that it will ever be used in that way.
fully dresses and watered it will be supporting less than a Cwt. The last one rotted out before it broke and it never fell over.

The JWs only partake of the euchrist if they know they are one of the select. And then only once a year. Which seems strange to me as Jesus made no such stipulation when he instituted it. But each to his own.....I am not sure what they would do if some one did take it.

Anglican services, today, are almost all eucharistic, it is central to the faith.
