New Hampshire Republican state Rep. Dick Hinch wept as he accepted a nomination as speaker of the house at an outdoor swearing-in ceremony with hundreds of his peers, including dozens without masks.

“It is my honor to accept,” he said on Dec. 2 at the University of New Hampshire, his voice trembling as he tried to choke back tears. “I am humbled by your support.”

One week later, Hinch, 71, was found dead in his home. The state’s chief medical examiner found Hinch’s cause of death was covid-19, New Hampshire Attorney General Gordon J. MacDonald (R) announced Thursday.

I guess he didn't know that an air-borne virus can enter the lungs via nasal passages.

ETA: Not to body shame, but he didn't look like the healthiest 71 year old around.

71. Kind of speaks for itself.

When (if) you grow up, try to remember some of the things that you have been saying lately here. And then remember that there will be people alive (who aren't yet) who will think the same about you.
I see things for what they are. Sorry if you can't handle it.

You know, once I saw a guy carrying heavy suitcases try to open the door out of the subway by kicking it open. His foot when through the glass, and the glass severed an artery. He died while I was watching.

Another time, going down the subway stairs in winter into St. Clair station in Toronto, an elderly woman slipped, and cracked open the back of her skull on the sharp stair. I don't know if she died or not.

I felt dreadful in both cases --even though they were just "what they were." I still remember those events with the same emotions I had then -- every time. You are making the case for "well, stuff happens -- too bad but what do I care, eh?"

As I said, I truly hope not to meet you, or anyone like you.

People see you for what you are by your pitiful and pathetic attempts to downplay this disease. You don't "see" anything; you're simply ignoring science and regurgitating brain-dead propaganda as you were so easily indoctrinated to do.

WTF?

As someone of 73, I find that an utterly repulsive response.

I truly hope I never have to meet you in person.

My father is 74. As a Millennial, I'm similarly repulsed by the callous disrespect shown for human life simply because a person hits age 65. Seniors' lives just aren't worth saving for the sake of "freedom" to these people, I guess.

With freedom comes responsibility, but conservatives have turned to making excuses rather than taking responsibility or accepting accountability when they fail to make rational and sensible choices. It's like they became children and now we on the left have to become daddies.

He is not all that young himself. You would think that he would have a little more empathy (you old geezer!).

From my parents' age I have still about 26 years left on this planet. 71 seems to be relatively young to me right now.

And let's not forget that Conservatives are supposed to be all about acting responsibly and personal accountability.
But we see that too has just been lip service for many decades now. They don't mean that. They don't really mean do for others and your country. They don't don't really mean love thy neighbor. We do see them, however, possibly taking to "kill them all for the Lords knows his own."

No. We on the left do not have to become mommies and daddies.

We on the left can just go with "survival of the fittest" (in this case those with intelligence and common sense) and leave the right to continue to reinfect each other. If they don't want to get the vaccine, that's OK with me too.
