OK, forgive me for being pedantic but ....
I had doubts when I first saw the thing about whether it could actually be used to hang anyone. Let's see.
It has what looks like a genuine "hangman's knot" in the rope. So probably that would work.
The wooden frame seems to be strong enough to bear the weight of the victim and those doing the hanging.
There is no trap door, so the victim couldn't be dropped (which breaks the neck and kills him quickly).
Nevertheless, it's possible to hang someone with a noose, so he slowly chokes to death.
For that though, you need enough space so the person's feet are off the ground.
There doesn't seem to be enough gap between where the person's feet would be (with his head in the noose) and the platform, particularly taking into account the lengthening of the rope as the noose contracted.
OK, so maybe they could hoist the person up by pulling on the rope. That would need an extension of the rope, over the bar and down to where it could be pulled. I don't see one.
On balance, I feel it would be difficult to hang someone on that device.
Another question. Does anyone know if, at the time the people were carrying the timber, it was known that Pence would refuse to do Trump's bidding?
