Hee, what kind? I just got myself a new HP Pavilion. It has AMD and ATi and was under 1000 so I couldn't resist.

It's a Gateway, It's got Centrino, 80gb, a double layer DVD burner and a bunch of stuff I don't understand (don't really know all that much about computers, hehe). I paid just over 1800$ for it.

That's great; I got myself a Dell a couple of months ago - thats got a centrino chip (very fast and very cool running - why they are so good) - if you want any explanations of anything, just P.M me.:)

Thank you Michel! I very well may take you up on that soon. I'm just now getting used to the touch pad mouse, haha. I was however, able to figure out how to set up my wireless internet connection all by myself last night, I was so proud :D

I always fancied a laptop but ended up with a fast Shuttle instead. 3.4 pentium 4 300 gig hard disk. 1meg memory. as this is more suitable for large files in photoshop. but at least a shuttle is very small for a PC

Don't be jealous of the laptop Kreeden, because if you were, you would, at the same time, have to be jealous of the debt I've put myself in in order to obtain it, hahaha :D

Wow that sounds good; I have an AMD athlon (which my son assures me is next best to pentium) 3.2 with 120 Gig hard disk. At the time when I bought it, the hard disk sounded enormous, but I have added a usb 160 gig hard drive.

My laptop was an extravagance so I could sit with my wife while on R.F - basically, it is this forum's fault that I have a laptop.

Well if you elieve that.........:D

Sounds really cool....I'm planning to get a new computer in the next year and want to get caught up a little on the new stuff that's ava. I'm really fond of the HP's but do you kow which is the best deal on getting a new desk top right now? I certianly will NOT get a laptop...I'd never see my family...I'd be on it all the time...gotta get rid of the computer blur in the eyes sooner or later...lol.

Got any tips anyone?

Hey Circle_One congrats and enjoy:woohoo: ...I know I sure would!:)

:D I <3 AMD. I'd assure you they're better than Intel.

Fromtheheart- What are you looking to do with the computer and what new stuff do you want in it? (Like gaming (and what games), digital art, listen to music and watch DVDs, make CDs or DVDs...)

I am considering buying two laptops for ScubaBoard and our big show at DEMA. The 2 gig Centrinos do run cool, but Toshiba has a 3.44 gHz P4M that looks really sweet! :D

What's your opinion of Apples, NetDoc? I've heard they're more intuitive and user-friendly than Microsoft based platforms, as well as less subject to viruses &c.

WOW. Laptops are expensive. Im about to pay 1999 for a top of line gaming PC. What specs does the laptop have? Being that much, Id expect it to be a very powerful one.

Seyorni,

Macs are great and will be greater when Intel starts making CPUs for them this fall. I will be sticking with PCs only because I know them intimately. :D
