Very beautiful, thank you.

I like the notion of polytheism from Hinduism simply because of two reasons.

First, if you think about it, any God is not going to stay lonely very long. He/She is going to get to work creating other Gods to keep themselves company.

Second, one look at the Hubble deep field photos send back from Space and its millions of galaxies makes it clear that no one single God could contemplate all of them.

My guess is -- one God (or family of Gods) for each Galaxy. But that's just a guess. None of the major religions or philosophies of the world mentions galaxies. The Hubble deep field data are completely new and their impact on modern religion is extraordinary, requiring a complete rethinking of most religious dogmas.

May I quickly add, as this is your introduction thread, that i am not a polytheist in the western sense. I believe in an all powerful Lord.

Greetings, yiostheoy! Welcome to the nuthouse affectionately known as RF.

As a long time resident atheist I can't say I agree with your position, but at least you know where you are coming from. That is a good sign.

Thank you Bodhi !!

You're very kind. And apparently very tolerant as well. That's a very good sign.

Er...Lord Vishnu :p
The 4 classic proofs of God indicate that if there is not a God then humankind would be forced to invent one.

This is a famous quote from Immanuel Kant.

A rose by any other name would still be a rose.

This is a famous quote from William Shakespeare.

Whether His/Her name is Vishnu, Shiva, (edit -- )Ahura Mazda, Elohim, or Dynamos is fine with me.

Zarathustra is the Prophet not the God

May it please Ahura Mazda to correct thee :)

As a deist, do you see God as taking no active role after creation, no personal interaction, does he take a passive interest or none at all?
