Anybody in here from ForU? Formerly CF?

Anyway, just wanted to stop by and say hello. I hope to be around in this forum a bit more.

Is this the same Jonny that posts over on ForU?

Nice to be here. I imagine it will take me a few days to get used to things here, but that's the best part.

Yep. I'm the same one.

The forums are pretty easy to get used to. This is the LDS DIR (Discuss Individual Religion) forum. There is a forum like this for just about every religion and it's a place where the religion can be discussed without any debate. The rest of the forum is pretty much self-explanitory.

Have fun! These forums are much more diverse than ForU - and we have frubals. :D

Yeah,... can you explain those fruballs to me? Are they like reputation, or blessings? Or is it something totally different?

What's ULDC?

ULDC stands for Unted Latter-day Church of Jesus Christ International or simply, the United Latter-day Church.

Info is on wikipedia, but I can't post the link until I have 15 posts.

I can answer any follow-up questions if you have any. :)

Can you please further distinguish the ULDC from FLDS?

We don't follow Warren Jeffs, not everything we do outside of what is taught is a complete and total damnation to hell (in other words, you have to work towards going to hell as well as going to the Celestial Kingdom), and we're not a hate group (we welcome blacks into our churches).

Those are the main differences, I think.

This paragraph from the wiki article:

The church first started back during the times of Joseph Smith Jr., the first Mormon prophet. During the trek west with Brigham Young after Joseph's death, the group helped found Winter Quarters where they resided until 1995 when they moved to Layton, Utah.[citation needed]
doesn't make much sense to me. Does that mean that the church headquarters was in Winter Quarters until 1995? And then it moved to Layton? I grew up in Layton and have never heard or seen anything about this particular group.

I think it will be interesting having a fundamentalist on here, but I'm afraid that they would go about representing the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints wrongly or inappropriately. there should be a clear definition between them and us.

I think we need to be careful not to describe the new member as a fundamentalist so we can help this member distinguish him/herself from the FLDS.

He isn't a part of the FLDS Church. Don't do to him what you're "afraid" he'll do to us. He probably doesn't appreciate it any more than you do.

Personally, I'm excited to have another point of view on the forums. From the posts I've read of his over at ForU, I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Do you allow blacks to have the priesthood and are there any black members in your church?

That is somewhat inaccurate.

The founders of the ULDC helped in founding Winter Quarters, but didn't reside there. Most families scattered around Nebraska, including Lexington, Nebraska.

In 1995, the group's HQ moved to Layton, Utah. There aren't a bunch of members in Layton. It takes up some of the surrounding areas, as well.

Hello! My name is not Tom Green, Winston Blackmore, Ron or Dan Lafferty, or Warren Jeffs. :p You may call me "Steve."

I used to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (long story). I no longer consider myself a member.

I do not represent the views, opinions, or ideas set forth by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (otherwise known as the Mormon Church).

I am NOT a Mormon or a Latter-day Saint.

I am a True Mormon; a Fundamental Latter-day Saint (not FLDS, though).

My family was tossed out of the FLDS Church during Leroy Johnson's and Rulon Jeffs' leadership over a conflict with the Barlows (spit), and went to join the Kingston group. My family left after my grandfather died and are now non-practicing or independent.

I'm not a freak, a pervert, an idiot, a weirdo, or "a troubled young man." I am simply different. That does not make me wrong, nor does it make me right.

Let me close with this. I believe Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. I believe the Book of Mormon to be true. I believe Brigham Young to also be a prophet of God. I have received great blessings from following the teachings of these two God-fearing courageous men. I say this in the name of Jesus Christ; amen.
