Hello All,

This is my first time making an account, but I have been following this forum for years now. I have always had an interest in religion and am always willing to learn more. I am sure some of the more observant members have already noticed my religious affiliation and have already begun to type up a storm! I will begin with this; I am a practicing Independent Scientologist. This means I am not a member of the official church, but still apply the subject of Scientology to my life. I have never been affiliated with the Church of Scientology and have never given them any money or support. I have been a part of an independent Org that I will not name, but recently left. (Now I am truly independent!)

You all might be wondering why I am on this forum. I am just here to discuss and debate religion like everyone else. I am not here to “convert” or change anyone’s opinions on Scientology. I am willing to have respectful discussion about my beliefs with anyone as long as people remember that I do not belong to Little David’s cult and will not be blamed for their actions. I keep my religious beliefs hidden for fear of being outcasted. I only bring it up here because my lived religious experience is relevant to this forum.

Here is a bit about me outside of Scientology, I am a normal person with a normal job. I work for an Aerospace company and have a BA in supply chain management. My favorite hobbies are playing Go, travelling, camping and reading about history/religion. I am a relaxed person, and mainly focus on building a good life for my wife and I.

Feel free to ask me anything, but please remain respectful.

Scientology focuses on the human spirit, which we call a Thetan, and the mind. To put it simply, we believe our mind is always recording everything around us. Sight, sounds, pains, emotions etc. It does this subconsciously, even while unconscious. The unfortunate thing about this is that these memories can be "triggered" causing a while range of problem for us as humans. These memories can cause chronic pain, anxiety, delusions, and in some cases illness. LRH developed a spiritual system that can locate and take away the power these memories have over us. The result is (or should be) an individual who is more logical, and spiritually aware. These memories come from this life, and other live we have lived. This a very brief explanation, and misses a few key points, but it good for people who have never been introduced to Scientology.

Welcome to RF.

I only ever had one encounter with a scientologist and that was in 1975.
I had just joined another 'alternative' group and I was keen to propagate.
We had a 3 hour conversation playing ping pong with our 'Truths'.
I believed I won as he believed he did. It was entirely amicable.
(If you're in England it was by Goodge St tube).

Anyway, I'm sure you'll enjoy it here.

Peace to all,

Welcome, ET, and to me logic is what has more power on earth in understanding the spirit than all of the finite disciplines. An we all know science has great power in helping understanding, also. I have a limited understanding in larger more complicated sciences and technologies, and/or Physics and such. A gentlemen from Scientology told me once to look at everyone as Son's of God, is this true for all Scientology? For I did not ask him his Religion and we were in a Scientology Building. He was not there too long, and I was only there for a little while also. To me in logic, what is created is from the first spirit, created, blown into the being, from the spirit through the flesh for the soul of the being in the Created Body, created mortal and corrupt.

You stated, "Scientology focuses on the human spirit, which we call a Thetan, and the mind." To me this is the correct thought path.

Thanks for sharing.

Peace always,
Stephen Andrew
