On a more serious note, that reminds me of how often we keep expecting the most recent faux pas from GWB or Trump to be the last straw for even their supporters.

But of course, it never was, as I do not particularly expect even this "wall" fiasco to be all that relevant to Trump's support (although I may well and happily be wrong this time).

To the best of my understanding, that is so because there is a serious mismatch of worldviews these days. Not only on what should our goals be, but on what the current situation actually is.

In that sense, "fake news" are indeed a significant problem... although Trump is among the least entitled of all people to complain about those.

I think that's pretty astute. You could elect a gibbon to the presidency on either party ticket and he or she would never sink much below 30% support. Bush at his very lowest was 28%.

enough just show the pro-wrestling crowd just
how desperate is the situation, and how much
harder they must fight, rally behind their nicked
but unbowed and undefeated champion

Indeed, that is a fairly likely outcome to the best of my understanding.

Was it the same guy who said this?

Probably. I am no unconditional supporter of his, in case you are wondering.

All the same, I am no passive accomplice of certain other people, either. And I do not intend to ever be.
