So I was wandering as usual on the vastness of the world wide web and RF caught my attention.

I am 32 years old working mom to a 7 year old boy.

PM me to know more about me, or you can ask anything you want here.

At the risk of getting impertinent, I really like to exchange thoughts with you, as you say people can ask you anything here.

This is a religious forum, and its name is very clear, it is about religions, wherefore, the name Religious Forums.

So let you and me and everyone here talk about their religion if at all they have one, or are interested in adopting one.

But what is a religion?

Here is my idea of what is a religion:

"A religion is the worship of a superior being, like with Christians, God and His son made man, Jesus Christ, with the objective of getting favors from the superior being."

There, everyone, what do you make of my idea of what is a religion, of which this forum is all about, in regard to religions, any and all of them.

I think it's more the system.
"a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices" - Webster
SBNR is sort of passe these days, but I relate to the term. I consider myself very spiritual, but not religious at all. I continue to try to see more clearly, hopefully understand, yet I have no particular "system". Also, I believe your view of Christendom is one of very many.

Thanks I don't believe in one religion as I want my son to know that all religion are meant to do is promote peace and harmony

You will find many here who disagree that that is what religions actually do. Welcome to the forum. Please don your flame-retardant underwear before proceeding........

You left out deism and the forms of religion that do not involve a god, such as one form of Buddhism.

Dear Walter, thanks for your reply.

Now, do you or don't you worship God at all?

Examine yourself, are you not into doing things that make God 'happy' with you? That is worship.

Don't you expect to get to heaven when you die, that is the favor God will reward you with.

So, you are into a religion, namely, the worship of a superior being, with the expectation of his favors in return to you for your worship of him.

Do I believe in God? Definitely. However, your view of God is most certainly not mine. I don't believe in rewards, worship, death or as you put it a "superior being". See, much different.

You are 'out-gooding' God by saying that you don't look forward to the reward of God.

You read the Bible, doesn't it say all the time about man serving God and God rewarding him, like foremost like the number of descendants like the sand in the oceans?

But think and tell me what is the best reward of God to man for serving Him?

I just don't care for the punishment/reward analogy. We are the children. We can't not serve God. It would be like saying "What reward does my right arm get by serving me?"
