No to Fake Meat

Sorry, I was joking. Where's the sarcasm emoji when you need it. I've been told on this forum that I don't eat meat because of indoctrination. For the avoidance of doubt: that's just ********.
Well I've been told that I'm a homophobe because I think its gross and nasty. But that's another story.

I used that as an example of how people attack others because they are different or think differently. Its stupid and pointless. People don't have to do or like the same things. Live and let live.

Some people apparently like kale.

Short answer: no.

Longer answer: If lab grown meat reduces the industries involving cows, sheep, chickens etc then I am in favour of the development as you might expect. But for me personally there is not just the welfare issue, it is also one of taste preferences. Our preferences ultimately come from our minds yes? - not simply our nose or mouth. Our preferences can change over the years, but we still have the same nose and mouth. After not eating meat for 40+ years I personally find the thought of putting meat in my mouth repulsive, whatever its origin. (I suppose there is also the minor issue of knowing or trusting the supposed source of any particular product, but that's not a concern of mine personally since I won't be eating any meat).
And that is the point. Even if people tell you, or someone constantly badgers you its healthier, its better, its environmental friendly, it doesn't involve killing or suffering of animals, etc you aren't going to eat it regardless.

But why? What's your reason? Why are you scared of lab grown meat? :p

I'm not "scared" of it at all. As I tried to explain, if it reduces the current industries I'm in favour of it. But on a personal consumption level I find it totally unappealing. I ate it until I was about 21 so I know what meat feels like in the mouth. I'm not going to eat lab meat for the same reason as I'm not going to eat kale, cabbage, turnip, swede or aubergine. Just a taste preference. The very smell of meat (lab grown or not) I find repulsive.

I was being sarcastic stemming from an earlier discussion with another poster. (where is that sarcasm emoji)

To add....look at the potential market for lab grown meat. The meat industry will never get them in their market but labs may. It could be a big money maker.

"According to a recent study, 22% of the global population is vegetarian. Another report says that almost 10% of Americans above 18 consider themselves vegan or vegetarian, and the number is increasing daily"

From your link:
"According to World Population Review, the U.K. has the highest number of vegans." Woo hoo!

Precisely! This isn't about any of that stuff this is about control just like moving people toward EVs.

Ehh I see it more of a substitute like people who are lactose intolerant.
Oh right I forgot the vegans want to eat "meat" too.

Why be snarky? If its what they want, let them have it. I could care less. Just leave me and my pasture, hay and corn fed meat alone

If they didn't, do you think there would be such a market for plant-based meat? Did you look in @Secret Chief's freezer?

There are vegans and vegetarians whose diets are for reasons other than what they choose to put in their bodies. For many, it's a moral choice.

THAT'S PRECISELY MY POINT!!!!! They aren't going to leave you and your pasture, hay and corn fed meat alone!!! It's not about vegans wanting meat. Goodness gracious

But its not meat.

I saw a video of a vegan talking to someone who was eating chicken in front to them. They referred to the chicken as "someone". I'm sorry but people lose me with that kind of "thinking". Besides this lab meat has nothing to do with vegans or moral choices.
