Nobel Laureate says spread of Coronavirus will end soon

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
According to a Nobel Laureate the spread of the Coronavirus will soon end.

Israeli Nobel Laureate: Coronavirus spread is slowing
All I can say is one thing....

Global warming can be your friend.

~Dr. Shaman: There's something to that that might be intriguing. If you look at Southeast Asia, the countries that have cases of COVID-19 but have not gone out of control are Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand and Taiwan; they have kept the growth of the virus linear.~

It makes sense to me.
Covid19 isn't particularly more dangerous than similar viral infections. But it's novel. People don't have immunity, vaccines, or even a good understanding of the risks and who is at risk.
But with most of the global health care research community focused on it that will change soon.

Oh, wow. A Nobel Laureate has spoken. Let's all just blindly accept what he has to say. On the other hand...

The expert who says Israel is overreacting to coronavirus
Prof. Michael Levitt's theory that Israel is not risking much with coronavirus made him an instant star among worried citizens

In fact, Levitt said drily, he would be surprised if more than 10 Israelis ended up dying from the virus.

The interview with Levitt was fascinating. The professor, who isn’t an epidemiology expert, spoke quietly and confidently. Is he the only one seeing things correctly? We’ll know better in a week or two. Meanwhile, as a senior associate of Netanyahu’s put it, “When I want some encouragement, I read Prof. Levitt’s analyses, but when I have to work, I work with the Health Ministry scenarios.”

Are people really that desperate for good news that they will blindly accept the words of anyone with good news?

Are people so addicted to bad news that they'll accept any nonsense if it feeds their addiction?

C19 is only a big deal because it's new and poorly understood. That's going to change rapidly with all the research, but it's still true now. It is a big deal.

But the biggest deal are the stupid responses to it, like hoarding toilet paper.

When all is said and done, C19 is going to save lives. The measures being taken will also reduce infections by much more ordinary killers like seasonal flu.

But in the meantime, it's a media circus and a profiteering opportunity and a blaze of conspiracy theories and a way for governments to take more control. That's the real problem with the virus. People's reaction to it. Not the actual illness.

That needs repeated. Empty shelves at stores despite an abundance of available resources, crashing stock markets, the virus did not do this. Fears and misinformation did this, along with people's foolish responses. Had people stayed calm and did what they should, it wouldn't have come to this.

How bad it gets is dependent on people taking good advice. The idiots partying on Florida beaches are just making the situation worse.

I'm placing my bets against knowledgeable self-interest and actions supporting community needs.

But if anyone wants to bet that humans will all respond the right way, the deed to my farm is on the table.

Fortunately for you, but unfortunate for humanity, your deed will safely remain yours.

They also tend to think collectively rather than individualistic. They probably dont hear much about "my rights this amd my rights that" during such an outbreak.

I guess you haven't noticed that tens of thousands of people who work in restaurants and hotels and stores are out of work. If you want to say that's because of the reaction to the virus rather than the threat of the virus, oh, well.

I guess you haven't noticed that the stock market has lost about 25% of its value because businesses like hotels and airlines and cruise ships and automobile parts manufacturers have closed their doors. If you want to say that's because of the reaction to the virus rather than the threat of the virus, oh, well.

Yeah.
That's exactly what I'm saying.

Are any of those problems the results of viral illnesses?
No, they're the results of people doing stupid things. From the government to the toilet paper profiteers, those people are attempting to get something for themselves at everybody else's expense.

Empty shelves at stores despite an abundance of available resources,
Why are the shelves empty? Whether you want to believe it not, the virus spreads when many people come into contact with many other people.

The factories that pack meat use people to pack the meat. They have closed to avoid (slow) spreading the virus.

Ditto canned goods.
Ditto paper products.
Ditto, ditto, ditto.

Are you still working?

See post #16 above.

Better yet, get an understanding of what's really happening. Ignorance is not a virtue.

Because people are stupid. The stores themselves have assured us multiple times there is plenty for all, but people really need to knock the **** off.

As I said, ignorance is not a virtue.

However, if you and Columbus think there is nothing to fear in comingling with a lot of people, I sure you can find other people who believe like you do. Go out and mingle.
