Tough call? Girls right to education is what Malala stands for. It's her struggle for that right for which she got a Nobel Peace Price. Regarding how many girls at school age are sitting at the negotiating table, I can see her fear that women's and girls rights may become collateral damage in the deal.

Yes I imagine it would be difficult knowing firsthand the kind of sacrifice she is asking of her country folk to continue to defy the taliban over the rights of girls to go to school. That's part of why I admire her courage.

Tough call? Girls right to education is what Malala stands for. It's her struggle for that right for which she got a Nobel Peace Price. I don't see Trump in his deal making worrying the least about the fate of women or the carnage that will no doubt resume. Whatever little we may have gained will be lost.

Fortunately Trump is not at the negotiating table. But of course the continued presence of the US military lingers over the peace talks. When the Taliban want the US out, they have to compromise - and the same goes for the official Afghan government.
