The ringing in my ears used to bother me, but I've accepted it's going to be there whether it annoyed me or not, so I decided there was nothing productive of allowing it to bother me.

Maybe that decision affected my partiality to other noise, because I can't think of one I find particularly bothersome.

I enjoy the sound of spring peepers and crickets. I have a sleep sounds that comes on each night called "Country Night" when the window is closed that sounds nearly exactly the same during summer nights when I sleep with the window open.

Which noises do you prefer?

Rain falling. I hear a lot of it here, especially during the Jangma, which is the monsoon that starts near the end of June. I also like the sound of thunder, but there is hardly any thunder here. The sound of thunder is something that I miss about Texas. Lastly, I like bird sounds. Crows and magpies are currently my favorites when it comes to bird sounds.

Which drive you nuts?

Girly-girly sounds.

The world is full of noise.

Some is relaxing, some grating.

Which noises do you prefer? Which drive you nuts?

(For the sake of this conversation, lets exclude music.)
The worst noise is multiple people talking at me.
Other bad noises....
Wrenches being dropped on concrete, backfiring
engines, anything really loud.

I love thunder, too! Not as much of it these days.
Girly-girly sounds.
What's that?

Agree with @mangalavara : rainfall and birdsong (though not magpies or green parakeets).

Sounds that drive me nuts: redundant and intrusive public address announcements. One example is on public transport, giving you information they gave you 5 minutes ago. But the worst of all is those TVs, imbecilicly provided in waiting rooms at airports or in doctor's surgeries. They run a never-ending stream of global disasters, which is not what you want to watch in those circumstances, and they prevent you concentrating on anything else. Nobody watches them. I've taken to turning down the volume so we can all get on with our books, magazines or internet scrolling in peace.

The family doctor seems to run health related tips(that I think are made for the clinic) on the TV, but the cardiologist runs game shows.

I'd rather have the health tips... they're quieter.

Prefer
Animal noises, birds chirping, owls twitting (or twooing), stags bellowing.
Gentle breeze through the forest.
Gentle rainfall
A v10 or v12 engine doing what it was built to do

Loath
Loud bangs, car backfire, something dropped etc have me ducking for cover

There's a drone here that bugs do in the late summer... cicadas, maybe? I love that.

When I worked third shift, I'd go home and go right to bed(I got off at 6am). I used to leave the windows open when the weather permitted because I loved hearing all the neighborhood kids play(I'd say cuss and swear at each other).

I hate wind. I cannot stand the sound of it beating on the houses, or whining through the trees.

Wind....ugh...I hate it too.
It means downed limbs, blown over stuff, & general danger.

Yes but how about nothing? Wouldn't that be best of all?

Everyone today carries around with them the means to keep themselves amused while they wait. If not a book or a paper then a phone able to receive texts, What's App, internet and God knows what.

No TV would be better. There would still be noise, though(not saying that's bad).
