Rachel, a Satanist, and Matt, a Christian, spends the weekend handcuffed together eating, partying, getting a Tarot reading, sleeping, going to Church, talking about religion and being interviewed by BuzzFeed in order to spread a message we should all keep in mind as human beings.

I found them to be equally annoying with and without the handcuffs on. So i get a message of equality from it.

If it isn't about Satan, why do they call themselves Satanists? I don't get that.

Well in at least some sects it's literally just about trolling the Abrahamics. An ironic title to mock the whole "you worship Satan" schtick I'm sure they are all sick of hearing from Christians. Well that and it's sort of like a metaphor I guess. Of course there's different "types" of Satanism and indeed Satanists. But that's the one I'm most familiar with.

there trolls. most Satanists just follow an atheistic philosophy of do good to other's and worship thy self. and such. really their tenets are far superior to the OT's or NT's

So they identify with what Christians think in order to make fun of Christians for having thought it? That's weird.

LaVey basically uses Satan as a symbol/scapegoat representing carnality. Satan is the figure of that which is carnal, and those who adhere to LaVeyan thought can interpret this how they wish. The religion is founded on the principle that supernatural beliefs and fear is not what a religion has to be. In LaVey's veiw, Satan was the perfect symbol for expressing this.

Okay, that makes sense. Thank you for clearing that up for me.

no its more so they say "hail satan" just to annoy you even though they don't believe in either your God or his enemy. it started up around the 90's during the Christian scare.if I recall. and exists today just to spite your faith.

an example was a school in Florida allows people to come around and hand out little bible comics trying to convert kids. so the temple of Satan came in and handed out Baphomet comics

More like a running joke. LeVay liked to play up the cliched "Satan worshipper" for ****s and giggles in public appearances. It was originally a way to mock critics. It was all tongue in cheek. His theology, for lack of a better word, was not about worshipping Satan though.

LaVey founded the Church of Satan in 1966, actually. And the "satanic panic" as it was called occurred during the 80's. Many a rock band were accused of hiding subliminal satanic messages on their albums and playing Dungeons and Dragons was claimed to conjure up real black magic and demons.

He looks sort of Christian. He's got angelic looking eyes, but he's got the arms of a bowler. Maybe its really a bowler and a Satanist. Also she looks like she's straight out of My Little Pony.

Yeah, Marilyn Manson use of blasphemous themes in his performances stirred up controversy with the christian conservatives, but the Church of Satan had been around long before then.

Marilyn Mason actually was (I'm not sure if he still is) a Priest in the Church of Satan. LaVey had a very strong influence on his creative career.

The tough one would be two politically opposed people being handcuffed together, imo.

I think I could do most politically opposed people okay. The hard one for me would be someone who often uses racial, gendered or homophobic epithets... I'd have a difficult time controlling my temper.
