Nostradamus or Nostra-dumb?

Nostradamus and his followers should not be making any claims on the affirmative based on 'their interpretation' of vague quatrains and subjective pictures that anything that happened in history fits in with the predictions.

It doesn't work that way.

Why don't they tell us something that's going to happen before it happens? They don't get to stake a claim after the fact. The Nostradamus followers claim he predicted anywhere from Hitler, Osama Bin Laden, 9/11 attacks, WWI, WWII and other major historical events. Why don't they use their "powers" to help us prevent these things?

I'll tell you what: Snuggies for DOGS -- now that's something Nostradamus could've never, ever, predicted. If any quatrains somehow even remotely described snuggies for dogs, I'll start worshipping the guy, how about that? :slap:

I wouldn't call Nostradamus Nostra-Dumb. I mean, if you have the cunning and wit to write obscurely-worded text, claim it as propechy, and then convince people that this is so for the next several centuries, that's far from being dumb.

Nostradamus wrote a bunch of gibberish, and then later people were able to put symbols into what had already happened. He didn't write the future, people just wrote the future into what he wrote.
That's my take. :)

I think I can read between the lines and guess who you are saying is dumb.:D;)

I think the writings of Nostradamus are a good example of how people read into things almost anything they like. Our need to find meaning in the most obscure things is somewhat baffling - but it helps some sleep at night.

:D Because it doesn't work that way, either.

Yet another label for another human, as we all are Nostradamus to some degree. So that which we say about him, we are in essence saying about ourselves.

For example, if you went through the same life experience as he did, you would derive the same life he did, and as such we are all prey to our experiences. Only we hold our own typically in favor of those around us, but more exaggerated compared to those that seem more weird to us.

So, it should stand to reason, the more weird the person in question seems to us, the more names we will have for that person.
