Nostradamus

After placing a post about Nostradamus I decided to create a thread about him. Have you heard of him, do you believe in his prophecies?

I went over some more of his prophecies today, and found this:

"The sky will burn at forty-five degrees.
Fire approaches the great new city.
By fire he will destroy their city,
A cold and cruel heart,
Blood will pour,
Mercy to none. "

Some have speculated that this was a new city in America (the country, not the continent). As Nostradamus had a tendency to refer to the country as the "New Land", the "new city" was thought to be New York at 45 % latitude.

I wonder if this might have been a prophecy of 9/11....even though it says that it will destroy the city, it could be interpreted as the effect it had, not the actual event.

I think most of his prophecies can be adapted to fit many things. So no, I don't believe what he says.

I was reading an X-Men comic book...and one of the series had the falling of the twin towers. This issue was published before the 9/11. While I was reading this issue, I didn't know what to think. But then I was informed that it was from Nostradamus. Kinda weird

If you make enough vague predictions.... some of them will come true.
I agree.

Some read the bible and follow the sayings. Can we say that someone reads about Nostradamus and follows his saying?

Yes, it is quite possible that his success has been his vagueness. However, Hissler, and Hitler....that is pretty close. I am someone who doubts very easily and I am starting to believe....even if we discount everything from the past....let's watch and see what happens.

I have a lot easier time accepting his predictions than I do accepting the giant locusts with crowns from the "Bible". Also, I don't think Nostradamus ever received profit from his prophecies.

I don't know if i do either, but it is good to keep an open mind. Anyone know what the next prophecy is supposed to be?

You don't really know it was a "prophesy" until after it happens. I've read a little on him, but just out of curiousity, I don't really take it seriously.

According to Nostra, Dracula perished in 1999. But He has the chance to be reborn again through another's soul.

Damn...I missed out. Oh well can't win them all.

I guess I'd like to know how many of his prophecies didn't really come true. If you say 200 things and only 1 of them happens, does it make you a prophet? I would say no.

Any example of these prophecies that did not come true?

There was a movie that was hosted by Orsen Welles called, "The Man Who Saw Tomorrow" It came out around the 1980's. It mentioned how Nostradamus predicted Armagedon...3rd World War....Floods....a man with a blue turban to be a third anti-crist...and more....these were all suppose to be before the year 2000. I am going to have to watch it again...cause I forgot what else he predicted...
