Not a king

Why did Jesus not want to be made a king here on earth?
John 6:15 NWT
15 Therefore Jesus, knowing they were about to come and seize him to make him king, withdrew again into the mountain all alone.

Maybe it had something to do with how Kings were percieved at the time. Possibly because he wanted to be recognized as the son of God instead of a King.

If He had allowed the crowd to press upon Him such a crown...

He would have found Himself in direct opposition to Rome.

He never intended to be that king.

His kingdom is not of this world.
He said so to anyone asking.

Probably because he was wary throughout all the scriptures of authority, i.e. "give Caesar what's Caesar's" and having to escape to Egypt so they wouldn't find him.

What makes you think that passage has to with being a king ON EARTH?

Seems to me that you are making a serious conclusive jump.

Any how.....
Seems to me that the reasons they wanted to make Jesus king was not acceptable to Jesus.

Jesus never wanted to have people regard him as an earthly king. Jesus did not seek earthly power. The kingdom he spoke of was otherwordly.

The New International Commentary on the New Testament states: “There were fierce nationalistic longings among the Jews of that period, and doubtless many of those who saw the miracle felt that here was a divinely accredited leader, who was just the one to lead them against the Romans. So they set themselves to make him king.” It adds that Jesus “decisively rejected” this offer of political leadership. Christ gave no support to any Jewish insurrection against Roman domination.

Yes, the reason they wanted him as king was because they thought to use his "powers" (for lack of a better term) against their enemies.
Jesus wanted no part of it.

Yes, speaking as a representative of God's heavenly government, Jesus acknowledged that his kingdom was not of this (earthly) source.
John 18:36 NWT
36 Jesus answered: “My kingdom is no part of this world. If my kingdom were part of this world, my attendants would have fought that I should not be delivered up to the Jews. But, as it is, my kingdom is not from this source.”

I think that he wanted to be king of our hearts and to effect the kind of change there that no earthly king could. Jesus also wanted to carry out the will of his heavenly father. Being an earthly king would be disobeying god. The devil did offered him the whole world. If the whole earth is not the devil's to give, Jesus would not have been tempted. If Jesus had used his free will and accepted satan's offer, then god's plan to save mankind from their sins would have failed.
