Here in Canada, we sometimes cull wolves if their numbers begin to threaten the survival of deer and other large game. They are sporadic affairs and tightly controlled, not a way of life.

The thing is, some people go too far. Killing too many natural predators will cause the large game to overpopulate, and eventually consume all the food around, leaving them to eventually starve to death.

And Palin's doing it for sport, not control :(

Of course you Liberals hate Sarah Palin. She is your biggest threat to furthering your agenda.

She is pro-life and pro-gun. You all hate that. You rail against a wolf being shot, but have no problem with millions of unborn babies being killed every year.

Your ignorance of animal management and hate for self reliance is duly noted.

Why not tell the truth, you are afraid that Barrack will be a one term President and that Sarah will be elected and rebuild capitalism and pull the plug on all of your expensive give away programs your messiah has run through congress in such a short time.

When we are still in Iraq longer than you like and our guests in Cuba are still not dealt with, all the while we ramp things up in Afghanistan and Pakistan, your slim margin of independents that voted for Obama will vote for change once again, only we will be putting a woman in the white house next time and it sure as hell will not be Hillary or Nancy.

Yes, you hate Sarah, because she scares the crap out of you. She is your worst nightmare if she obtains the highest office.

She is pro-life
Pro-life until they're born. After that, "you're on your own!"

and pro-gun.
Not against guns. They're just not for me. It would be a dumb idea to keep everyone from having guns 'cause then only criminals will get them. Anyway, this forum is about animals, not politics ;)

And you've got no problem with all those children who then are born into extreme poverty, then die of starvation, right? Or the kids who end up circled around in the foster care/adoption system?

Your ignorance of animal management and hate for self reliance is duly noted.
*facepalm*
Seriously, where the hell does this "hate for self-reliance" crap come from? What the hell do you base this on?
And how are we ignorant of animal management? Yeah, animals can get overpopulated. That's what predators are for. But the difference between we humans and animals is that WE are OUT OF SYNC with nature, and so we wouldn't know when to stop. When it's enough. Predators stop breeding as much if the number of prey goes down (see, they don't want their children to suffer and starve ;) ). And predators keep the numbers of the prey in check. If they didn't, the prey would breed and eat faster than their food supply could regrow. Mother nature already has that figured out. Or rather, what you call "God." Don't you think someone all-powerful and all-knowing would have set up a system in which it takes care of itself, so he can focus on the oh-so-important human race?

What does this have to do with animals?

See above.

Well that might work out great for the Wolves, but what about the caribou?

I'm pretty sure they're part of the aforementioned self-sustaining system . . . Unless you have reason to believe that they're not :areyoucra

No one in Alaska is wanting to kill all the Wolves. The herds have to be thinned. If for some reason their numbers where few, they would be protected. Animal management makes for a healthy balance of all species where they have a habitat that can support them. When the numbers of any species gets out of hand, they are the first to suffer.

People in Alaska know what they are doing, they don't need the lower 48 telling them what to do. It takes a rugged individual to live up there. At any given time, a 2000 pound moose could walk up to them. Alaskans want to preserve their heritage and responsibly manage their resources. Harvesting wolves is part of that responsible management.

I'm sure you are just as in touch with what Alaskans wish to do with their environment and animals as much as Comicaze is.

I have family in Alaska, My information comes from them. Your low opinion of the level of my Intel does not affect the validity of my statements.

You know, in my almost 60 years on this planet, I have learned things by actually experiencing them first hand in the real world. It is a shame that most people now rely on the internet for everything.

How indicative are your family of the general Alaskan population?

And what is to say that Comicaze has no friends/family/acquaintances in Alaska? He might well have lived there himself (if where Comicaze lives right now, Ovadaire, whereever that is, is not in Alaska itself).

All I know is, you can not just let one species devour everything else and multiply beyond what your habitat will sustain. Yes, he is correct when he says the problem will solve it's self, but that is way more cruel than animal management ever was.

hahaha, this isn't true in the slightest.

She is not a significant threat at all. It's silly that neo-cons even take her seriously and actually view her as a contender. :biglaugh:
