In the U.S as of December 10th., there have been 43 known cases of Omicron infections, but zero deaths and just very mild illnesses.

Covid Live Updates: C.D.C. Reports 43 Cases, No Deaths, in First Window on Omicron in U.S.

Most of the 43 COVID-19 cases caused by the Omicron variant identified in the United States so far were in people who were fully vaccinated, and a third of them had received a booster dose, according to a U.S. report published on Friday. Of the 43 cases attributed to Omicron variant in US, 34 people had been fully vaccinated. Most people only had mild symptoms such as coughing, congestion, and fatigue, says CDC report.

Most reported US Omicron cases have hit fully vaccinated, says CDC

Omicron is evidently very contagious and somewhat vaccine resistant, however Omicron very likely causes very mild illnesses. Perhaps Omicron might out compete and overtake Delta, meaning while there may be many of runny noses and mildly sore bodies, almost nobody soon will likely die by C.O.V.I.D.-19.

It's probably a good thing In some ways. The Omicron variant might show Covid is weakening, like the Spanish flu weakend.

I'm confident you are right that the Omicron variant is far less lethal than the Delta variant
It should be a sign of hope. A light at the end of the tunnel for everyone who is personally concerned.

I'm sure most people want this to end collectively regardless of opinion.

A sample size of 43 and we're already drawing conclusions?
As of Friday, the UK had reported 134 Omicron cases without any known deaths yet by Omicron

"A total of 134 cases of Omicron were confirmed in the UK as of Friday night, the Guardian reported. The quick spike in infections came amid a report from the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) indicating that the first 22 Omicron cases in England were people that had gotten two shots of a coronavirus vaccine."

There's also encouraging reports out of South Africa where Omicron is the dominate strain of SARS-Cov2.

According to South Africa’s National Institute for Communicable Diseases:

— Only about 30% of those hospitalized with COVID-19 in recent weeks have been seriously ill, less than half the rate as during the first weeks of previous pandemic waves.

— Average hospital stays for COVID-19 have been shorter this time - about 2.8 days compared to eight days.

— Just 3% of patients hospitalized recently with COVID-19 have died, versus about 20% in the country's earlier outbreaks.

Unfortunately today, there was the first reported death by Omicron in the U.K. You are correct, correct conclusions certainly can not be based on an.observed small group."s overall reaction to Omicron.

But the info you quoted stated that the people who got it were vaccinated. The same mildness may not be the outcome for unvaccinated people.

Unvaccinated as well as vaccinated persons infected with Omicron have typically experienced just mild illnesses by Omicron.

Two doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech jab might not be enough to protect people against the Covid-19 Omicron strain, the US pharma giant said, citing its own study and adding that one more booster shot could still do the trick.

We might indeed need three jabs at being mRNA vaccinated in order for us to be well immune against Omicron.

Yes. What's your point?

Source? If not, your comment is just your opinion.
Source: South Africa. Lots of vaccinated and unvaccinated are catching Omicron there, but few of either being infected by Omicron require hospitalization

Based on latest data, I am now confident Omicron is going to overtake Delta .Omicron is so contagious, it is inevitable most everybody is going to catch this, but since Omicron is so less fatal than Delta, very few will soon get sick by COVID-19 ..

So far, there have only been 7 deaths out of approximately 25,000 reported cases of Omicron in the U.K.

LONDON (Reuters) -Cases in the United Kingdom of the fast-spreading Omicron variant of the coronavirus jumped sharply to almost 25,000 while the total number of reported deaths among people with it so far rose to seven, according to British health authorities.
