Omnist , truth in all religions

Starlight

Spiritual but not religious, new age and omnist
Omnism is the belief that no religion is the only truth, but that truth is found in them all

Ominism, a belief system is the recognition and respect of all religions, Ominsts say that all religions contains truths, but that no one religion offers all that is truth.

I identified as a syncretist when i first joined RF. That is to say that I believed all religions came from God pretty much.
If no religion has the whole truth, do religions contain falsehoods? This was the problem I had being a syncretist. Varying religions completely contradict each other. Sure, they all teach God is love, which is the most important message.
But beyond that? Try synthesizing Christianity with Islam. I don’t think you can do it. Both Christianity and Islam say God is love, so they agree right? But on Jesus, they completely disagree. So even if they both contain the truth that God is love, one of them has to contain a falsehood about Jesus. Either He is God or He is not, both can’t be right?
All I’m trying to say is, if there is truth in all religion, doesn’t that mean there is falsehoods in them too?

Ominists do not believe one spesific religion (for example Christianity or hindism is 100% literaly true.). Ominists do not believe the different religions are all literaly true in everything, if that was the case then it is not logical.

Omists believe that all religions contain some truth

What the religions share of belief:

Belief in a higher power/God, be kind to your neigbour, forgiverness, kindness, morality laws, prophets or holy souls of God, prayers to God, Heaven/hell, that the most important is to serve God and loving each other

I have found much of value in what I have read of the Old and New Testaments, the Upanishads, The Dhammapada, the Bhagavad Gita, the Tao Te Ching, and also texts of a spiritual nature by Milton, Blake, Tolstoy, Bulgakov and others. I was once given valuable and timely guidance, when in a difficult personal situation, by a Rasta who I think was paraphrasing one of The Psalms.

So yeah. I have never called this perspective Omnism, but if that’s what it’s generally known as I’ll ignore the potential for half puns, and embrace it.

I believe the universe is a fundamental whole anyway, and there are no distinct realities within a fundamental whole, only the illusion thereof. So it’s all one, a unity expressed in multiplicity.

love is found in all people either in service to self or service to all as self.

unfortunately the service to self person is in conflict with the absolute; which invariably has to be corrected.

Well, that all religions contains some truth is obvious. For instance, I am sure they all agree humans have a nose. Or that there is at least one God.

Things start becoming tricky when religion A says there is only one God, while religion B says there are many.

So, omnism would make sense if it could identify a non trivial common denominator of all religions. Alas, I expect that in that case omnism would reduce to something useless. Like the above mentioned trivial truths all religions agree upon.

No. I don't think all religions have truth in them.

I do think all religions have their own interpretation of truth. All the way from sensible to downright bizzare.
