On A Mission

Are you on a mission in life or do you float through? One of my favorite forum names I've seen is "abtchonamission." Are people on a mission loved or hated?

I believe we are here to learn. I believe life (as in the one we are living) is just a learning experience. We will move onto our real lives when this one ends. I believe ones mission should be to learn the most they can about the afterlife and spirituality while here on earth to carry on to the afterlife. My mission is to strive to keep an open mind/soul and to never dismiss anything as false till I can prove so.

People who are on a mission are normally hated since their single mindedness makes them come across as ignorant of other things. However, I have nothing but respect for people with the determination to do something with their lives that is worth while and beneficial.

Is it just me, or do people who float seem to be more happy and carefree, whilst those who are depressed/upset more likely to turn their lives into a mission? Whenever anything bad happens to me, I know I always feel like I want DO something just so I can focus on the task completly and ignore my problems since they are inferior to what I am trying to accomplish.

Uh,

I don't think you could get much more happy and carefree than I am.

And I'll throttle the dolt who says differently! :D

Seriously, you can be driven and keep your perspective.

A few years ago I had a couple of strokes. It didn't take long to discover that I lost blocks of memory as a result. I have rediscovered the passing of friends and family and have no idea how much I have lost as these things do not exist for me until reencountered.
I stand in front of my library, I reach out and touch a book and I think to myself, I knew you. I Knew your thoughts, your content, your meaning. It's right there, somewhere,I once could quote you but you are gone to me now. The general thread of my self education remains but there are so many gaps that I must fill again. So I read, I rediscover, I work to gain what I have lost. The personal history will never belong to me again. It simply can't be relived, but I can and will reeducate myself.
It is my mission.
Peace, Faust
Come here you little bugger! Ha!! I caught you!!!:woohoo:

I concur. Though I think we are here to learn about more than just the afterlife and spirituality. I know I absorb anything and everything I can get my hands on. I've done 3 degrees in college so far and am presently working on my fourth just because I need to be constantly learning.

That's a very honorable mission Faust. Hope all goes well with you. It did get me to thinking that in some ways we are all trying to fill gaps. Many of us didn't get what we needed. It's a good mission to fill the gaps like Faust, with love and good things. So many of us choose destructive things to fill in the gaps.

If I die having made a positive and lasting difference in just one person's life, then I will have lived a good life, my mission accomplished.........;)

Thanks NetDoc, I suppose it must just be a pattern amongst some of the people I have known so far. Could just be a coincidence though.
