I guess it depends on your religion. I'd say different religions have different rules for peeling onions. Violating these rules could result in punishment ranging from a mild penance to condemnation to Hell. If you believe in reincarnation you might come back as garlic.

^ This.

Also if the skin tends to stick try running some warm water over it.

And always remember, red onions are the best.
Thanks... didn't know about the warm water.

I enjoy the long green onions (scallions) too... especially mixed in scrambles eggs.

Scallions are good too, but I often don't consider them to be "onions".

Wait... that gets met thinking... maybe OP was asking about green onions.

In that case, OP, you don't need to peel them, you want to take the stalk and chop it into centimeter-wide pieces. You want to cut and discard the very bottom. You shouldn't need to do any peeling.

Please explain.

Take a crapload of onion skins, flowers, cheesecloth, and eggs. Wrap the eggs in the onion skins, with flowers placed between the onion skin and the egg. Then wrap that in cheesecloth and tie it tight. After all your eggs are wrapped, place them in a pot of water to boil, along with all your other left over onion skins, and boil them like you would a hard-boiled egg.

The color of the skins bleeds through into the egg, dying it, and the flowers block the dying process, giving you flower-shaped imprints on the eggs.

That's objectively the proper way of doing it. ;) :p

I'm not a follower of the onion religion (since this thread is in religious debates). Garlic & Ginger are worthy of worship as given in the sacred text That Divine Couple: Garlic and Ginger.

In the beginning the universe was void and without form. Seeing it so empty of Divine Flavor, Garlic and Ginger caused smell and taste to be born. And they saw that it was good. But they realized that smell and taste were not enough. There had to be beings to consciously experience those senses and offer praise to the Senses beyond sense. So they created evolution which would some day result in humans who would fulfill their destiny.

So, sinners, repent your onion heresy and adopt the one true religion. Or suffer the consequences.
