How was does your online handle and persona effect or relate to your idea of who you are? Me, I think of my self as much as iti oj as I do Mick. Honestly I catch myself thinking of my self as iti often and i can be a bit disconcerting.

There's no separation between who I am online and off. My personality is basically the same. My user name reflects who I am, too.

Saint = because I'm Catholic and named after St. Francis of Assisi
Frankenstein = because of St. Francis and it's also a nickname a friend gave to me. It also represents the duality of my personality as a reference to the tragic character of the Doctor.

I'm also from San Francisco, which is named for St. Francis. So it all comes full circle. I hadn't planned it like that, though. The SF connection was actually something I had just recently noticed.

Do you think of yourself as SF?
Like in an internal monologue?

Mine doesn't carry any deep meaning.
I originally came here to discuss religion so I wanted it reflect that I was an atheist snd may or may not be hostile towards religion.
That's it. Even the 44 is just a random number I use for when the user name isn't unique. I guess it's not random anymore but it was the first time I used it.
I thought about changing it to something more personal since talking about religion bores me now, but I figured... meh, what's the point?

In general I really don't care about online personas at all.
For another web community I use often my handle is literally just "whatever".
Exciting right?

telling!
How important is RF and this other community to you? Does it have meaning to you? Do you ever think about what you do here as a apart of who you are? I can say my role on RF is a part of my identity

What? Me worry?
I am hoping that my online persona will one day accidentally bump into my offline persona. I am just going to sit back and watch.

No, it's not a part of who I am. It's just another learning tool I use.
My wife doesn't even know anything about my RF activities.
Not because I'm trying to hide something, it just has never come up in conversation.
She never asked about the bookmark or what I was typing and I never thought it important enough to bring up.
Although, while I was researching pornography facts for one of the pornography debates here I did think I would have some explaining to do because of some of the questionable web sites I went to, but she never looked through the browser history, so it never came up again.

Internally, I don't really have a name for myself. I am just me. There is no single word that can sum all that up.

My Hindu handle reflects my feelings about God...Jai Nārāyan, "Victory to God" in Hindi (it is a genuine Hindi male name). My Viking handle reflects my feelings about myself... Þórbjörn (Thorbjorn, a genuine Old Norse and Icelandic male name), "Thunder Bear". I'm a short stocky (OK OK, fat) bear and I can get rambunctious and thunderous (OK OK, obnoxious). Btw, neither of those is anywhere close to my legal given name Frank. Oddly, I'm known by Frank at temple, not by Jainarayan. Maybe that's because I introduced myself as Frank? o_O But I've never really associated the name Frank to myself, that is, I never really felt it fits me.

Yup. Just "me" and "I."

Only time it becomes something else is if I'm channeling/invoking/shapeshifting/roleplaying/etc. Then "I" becomes "bird" or whatever it is I'm invoking.

My handle is savagewind. It does not mean hurricane or tornado, though it could. Savage is my father's name.
Wind is like spirit and I think about the spirit a lot, but in real life I do not try to sway opinion my way. I think that most of the people I know either have very few opinions, or they do not share their opinions. I do not often bring up subjects to talk about with other real people.

I don't talk much in my life apart from this forum, so I am not much of savagewind really. In real life I am not a troll, though I do have a temper. I think that here some people picture me a pure troll, which I think is funny. Sometimes I wonder how many people have put me on official ignore, but I know it is against the rules to ask.

I think nobody in my life, which is apart from the internet, knows that I am somewhat of a slippery troll. I am aware that I am trollish on the internet but I don't do it on purpose. I do it for TRUTH, justice and the future.

I said to my husband (my polar opposite) if he even knew what my blog was about. (What it is about is bring down falsehoods). He said, "buttons?" LOL

I only use this nym here. I use others elsewhere.

If you create a mental construct in which you 'are' a name, any name, whether its your given name or an adopted one, you have shackled yourself. Any name I take isn't for me, its for other people so I know when they are addressing me.
