Opening ceremony for Olympics has drag queens resembling the Last Supper

It seems it has more to do with Greco-Roman mythology than Christian mythology.
Is that what site this is, mythologyforums.com, dang I was confused. Disagree with anything and call it mythology, how very convenient. But if a blatant attack on the religion of the ancient Greeks wouldn't have been accepted back then(Paul tried that in Ephesus it didn't pan out) what makes you think that would work here, you being among so many Christian pagans and all?

I'm not sure what I'm meant to be offended by. I watched the opening ceremony and didn't notice drag queens or the last supper. However I was a little offended by Celine Dion's singing.

The definition of myth/mythology does not say anything about it being false or anything about a disagreement.

Outrage over nothing, again. Why are people so easily offended these days?
I blame the hyper individuality in combination with the hyper competitiveness of our society. There's probably some other things, but it seems more a sympton of this constantly on edge society that is focused on me and being me and nothing else for more than a few seconds.

Also, legal systems that encourage that mode of thinking and establish rewards and punishments linked to how passionately one adheres to it.

I figured the outrage was more about a public drag performance than anything else. What else gets conservative knickers in a bunch these days?
Well at least you're not relying on tired identity politics memes, phew.

As I posted in the other thread:

I think people saw the Last Supper when maybe it wasn't actually there:

The ceremony's artistic director, Thomas Jolly, said there was no intention to "mock or denigrate anyone" and explained the scene in question was designed to reference pagan gods.

Jolly told French broadcaster BFM: "The idea was to do a big pagan party linked to the gods of Olympus."

I'll add I'm reminded of Apophenia:

"Apophenia is : “the tendency to perceive a connection or meaningful pattern between unrelated or random things (such as objects or ideas)”

Good post.
I just became familiar with the term recently when reading this blog post: 'Apophenia: How the Internet Transforms the Individual into a Conspiracy of One'.

The extravagant opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics has caused fury among the populist and religious right in the United States and elsewhere, with critics especially unhappy about an apparent depiction of the Last Supper featuring drag performers.

Drag performance resembling Last Supper at Olympic opening ceremony rankles conservatives
It was a fashion show. People were on both sides of the catwalk. That photo was meant for people to think it was TLS. It wasn't.

I don't buy that at all. I think Thomas Jolly is either lying or too stupid to know this looks like the Last Supper. Furthermore, he didn't design this performance in a vacuum without the approval of many other people. This ersatz "excuse" is bogus and is itself insulting.
Since when has their been a blue guy in the Last Supper painting?

(The blue guy was Dionysus, by the way).
