Oprah for President?

He probably thought so - for that moment in time. I bet Oprah was mildly flattered - at the time.
If it's the same one I saw, she was interviewing Trump on her show.

Media savvy as Trump is, he would probably have said that to Al Franken under the same circumstances.

Nevertheless, at the moment it doesn't seem that the Democrats have any elected official in the wings who is exciting and galvanizing enough to be able to beat any incumbent.

Given what Oprah has going for her, I strongly suspect that she could wield more power in Washington with a series of shows amounting to "Oprah's Picks for the White House and Capitol Hill" than actually being President.
And she could keep her day job and private citizen status.

What is it, and why would I care?
It presents this of idea of the "law of attraction," which is basically a severe misrepresentation of quantum physics, and features scientists who legit scientists but so mislead about what the project is and so misrepresented from the editing process that some of them end up suing. Basically, what it claims, is your thoughts send out and attract energy into the universe, and if you think bad thoughts then your family will disown you, a scammer will drain your bank account, and you'll die of cancer; think good thoughts though you'll find the perfect love, become a billionaire, and get green lights all day in traffic (an example literally taken from the film).

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
Just what kind of a person would vote for Oprah anyways?

All I got in my mind is a vision of a bunch of middle age housewives in their pajamas running for the polls to get back by midday for the afternoon soaps.

I've never heard the physics version before. I've known some Unity Church
ministers who preached the universe delivers whatever you envision.
So some of them have opposed security measures because thinking about
them will deliver crime. Ya just canna make this stuff up!

And what kind of person would vote for Trump anyways? If one listened to Steven Hawking, his response was that those who voted for Trump were "the lowest common denominator" of American society. His words, not mine, although he may have a point. ;)

I'm wondering if that makes Trump a Democrat? or Oprah a Republican?
Trump and his family have always been democrats. Though I suspect Trump would vote republican for their corporate policies.
Oprah doesn't come across as someone in favor of corporate policies over middle class policies.

Not all wealthy people vote republican, just the ones who don't care about the middle class so they can save more money at the expense of everyone else. Greed

That's obvious. Just look at the people at a Trump rally. People who don't mind being lied to their faces. Gullibility is also a symptom of a lack of critical thinking / intelligence. It's mostly their genes.

Thanks for saving me the time of investigating this.

What it sounds to me like is a New Agey way of telling an important truth. What you think, say, and do has a huge impact on your outcomes.
That's down played in the modern culture of victimhood and entitlement. I remember when Bill Cosby got trashed for a similar message a few years back.

The "law of attraction" has no truth to it. It greatly over stretches and over exaggerates what thoughts can do. Sure, there are self defeating attitudes, but according to this mumbo-jumbo, if you get sick it's your fault. If you have great success, it has nothing to do with the efforts of yourself and others, but your thoughts alone. If you want to be a million, according to them, visual the money, walk around with a note in your pocket, and just as long as you sincerely think about it and desire it and visualize it, it will happen. It leaves no room for the fact that **** happens.

The idea of Oprah for president is ridiculous, and people are ridiculous if they vote her in. Americans are like little children, and want a celebrity-idol to run the country. Oprah is misguided. She once had a show on the ecology sponsored by General Electric. She thinks she can solve problems by throwing money at them. Her girls school in Africa failed as a result. While I think it is time for a woman president, Ellen or Rachel Maddow are far more qualified, but money talks, and naive Americans will listen and fall into yet another glue trap, to the detriment of both the country and now the rest of the world.

I think the present generation is just incapable of selecting any sensible and intelligent leader to guide the country on the basis of his or her capability.

What we have now, are tabloid elections fueled by soap opera drama adnaususm.

I think it's a safe bet to say it's going to be like this for a very very long time.

Eh, let her at least run and do the debates.

I'll bet almost the entire country foaming at the mouth to know all the dirty hidden secrets people can dig up on her. You just don't become a billionaire by being squeaky clean.

What do you mean by the “present generation”? It wasn’t the young people that voted for Trump.

I don't think we'll last. The country is in a very bad state right now, even though Wall St. is doing well. Already we have had our election process attacked. Drug use is rampant. Our two party system is pulling and tearing us apart. We are involved in two costly wars. Our infrastructure is outdated. Homelessness still a plague. Racial tensions continue to be an issue. And on and on. Something's gotta give, and I don't think it will be pretty. Fascism seems to lurk just around the corner. All the while we live in a fantasy bubble of America always being around.

Other than that, we're doing just fine. ;)
