I'm not sure if this belongs in Christian DIR or not so I'm putting it here.

I have had many folks here and also at Beliefnet who claim the UU church is going out of business. Ours in Dallas is actually getting bigger.

So I could not prove that because I cant find exact statistics in WIKI. However I have also noticed Zen groups and HIndu groups have grown.

So I looked for statistics. I would say its a debate for Christians who claim other religions outside of Christianity and Catholicism are going out of style and the USA will be all Christian.

I did find statistics in Wiki believe it or not for UU churches Unity, Pagan all of the other religions outside of Christianity and Catholic . I can not remember if Judaism was included I that.

So here it is. The number for non Christian non Catholic religions were 5 percent in 2002 and then went up to 5 percent, then went back down to 3 percent, and now its climbed all the way back up to 7 percent as of 2012, the highest in a long time.

So while I can not speak for the UU church, I can say other religions are growing. It is just a small percent still. But I hope it will grow.

Ah but is that REALLY a good thing at all..???.... Just means that as each of these DIFFERENT religions grows -so too - DIFFERENCE of beliefs will become ever more wider and more pronounced - we will just end up with a lot MORE people believing a lot of DIFFERENT and often opposing beliefs......How can that be good....??..

Id say it would be much MUCH better if people just gave up ALL religion (after all they cant ALL be true) then perhaps the WORLD could finally unite in a common cause and THAT would be much better for us all...

I get what you are saying. But another alternative would be we give up our religious institutions instead of our religion, were always going to have our on beliefs.

But then again even though I see your point, the institutions do a lot of work for the community. Just for instance I just met a guy online who happens to go to another UU church and I know some of the people he goes to church with.

So it makes it easier to meet singles if your in church. There is also all the charities and community work and helping the homeless.

I think instead of getting rid of religion it would be better to find one institution e could all go to and unite to make changes.

My UU church works with a Catholic church across the street with a place around the corner that serves food to the homeless and poor.
