Overwhelmed

I find myself becoming a little overwhelmed in the forum now. I want to read what everyone posts, but it is too much information!!!

Is there a way to save your favorite subjects in a place....and when anything related comes up it goes there (example: vegetarianism, abortion, gay rights, humanitarianism, relationships, etc)?

Hmm. I can only suggest using the Search Box. Or Subscribing to the posts you like to keep being informed of new posts in that thread.

Otherwise I will keep an eye out on new updates that might help.

The Search Box doesnt bring up exactly what I want....I am not sure exactly what the criteria is for searches. I could put my name "huajiro"...you would think all of my threads would come up, but I think it is actually anywhere I posted. I know I can find information by person under their info....but I want subjects.

If I subscribe to a thread it is one that I have to have been in already.

I am looking for new info....and the threads go by very fast now....I want to be able to search by subject.

Most of what I look for is in off-topic discussions....and even that goes by pretty quick.

Sorry for the trouble....I am just looking for suggestions.

Yea I have the same problem. I keep typing in "Does God exist" and I get all sorts of answers both ways!!

Thats probably because the search box will search for each word individually so you'll find plenty of random threads completly unrelated to God's existed such as what God had for breakfast or does the invisible pink unicorn exist. I dunno if you can use the same kind of commands as for web search engines like "Does God exist" or Does+God+exist.

What would be ideal is some sort of auto subscription service which you can put key words in so that if ever a thread comes up on that topic you get an e-mail or a PM about it. Not that I would use it but it would probably solve the problem :)

Fluffy, I was joking when I made that entry. :bonk:

By Gosh - I think Robtex has hit on the final solution - just ask the "Search" box the difficult questions (i.e. Does God Exist) and let it tell us the answer. Next question for you to put in Robtex: What is Man's Purpose? :)

I subscribe to entire forums.

Use the "Forum tools" button at the top of the forum (You will see "Thread Tools" if in a thread) and subscribe to the entire forum.

You should also hit "Advanced search" from the search drop down menu to improve your chances.

For wickedly humorous and insiteful posts, put "NetDoc" in the user portion.

For dispirited hard cold logic, put TVOR in the user portion! :D

I tried this - everytime I put "NetDoc" in the User portion, my computer gives me the error message "Seek TVOR posts for more humor and deeper insight". :) You have to admire computers these days!

If you look closely at the photos, you can see his knees buckling under the strain. Carrying a man of my stature is no easy feat!! Of course, you can now see why NetDoc always looks up to me.

I (ugh) try (pant, pant) to bear (holy tomoly) my Brother's (gasp, gasp) Burdens...

But maybe the Atkins plan is in order??? :D

Man, I hate to tell you this NetDoc, but I've been on the Atkins plan for over five years now. Of course, that's the "Puffy" Atkins plan - not the more popular Atkins Diet that excludes carbohydrates. :)

I make bookmarks (a FireFox designation for favorites) for those threads I want to get back to. Otherwise, I use the instant subscription notification and Today's Posts from the nav bar.
