As for lobotomies, that was a humanistic secular responce that had noting to do with the CHURCH.
Many lobotomies were done to "cure" people of "sicknesses" such as homosexuality, sexual promiscuity, masturbation, and even miscegenation.
Do you honestly believe the misdiagnoses of normal human actions was not related to religious beliefs?

Now, according to a Gallup Poll, Vermont is the least religious of the fifty states.
In fact, last year the state legislature of Vermont voted to overturn the Governors veto of same sex marriage. The first state to pass same-sex marriage by legislative action.
By the reasoning of Pat Robertson and certain ignorant posters, of the fifty states, Vermont should have the most natural disasters, crime rates, and terrorist attacks.
The last major hurricane to hit Vermont was in 1938 compared to Mississippi's seasonal disasters(the state with the highest percentage of religious citizens).
The crime rate per-capita is lower than Mississippi's .
And the terrorists have not targeted Vermont.

Is God not paying attention to his targets, or where he places his "protective veil"?

Maybe God has good taste...and likes cheese:D

Do I think God did it? No. I do however believe their is a veil protecting believers from things like this.

Is it like this: There's bad stuff out there, and God places a veil protecting believers from it, but doesn't bother protecting non-believers? Is that your position?

btw is there any empirical evidence that would change your position. For example, if it happened to turn out that states with the highest proportion of Christians also had the most deaths from natural disasters, would it change your position?
