Paul and the Apostles

I can't recall the exact verse, but the in the Acts of the Apostles, Luke writes about how Paul and the other Apostles were told by the Holy Spirit to not spread the good news to Asia. Why was this? I don't remember if this is brought up again. I have the suspicion that it was because Siddhartha had already spread the compassionate word of God, but since this is the Christian section, I don't expect anyone to agree with that. What is the reason for Paul and the Apostles not preaching in Asia?

I think the verse you're referring to is in Acts 16. Assuming it is Acts 16 that you're referring to, it wasn't Paul and all the other apsotles who were forbidden from preaching in Asia, it was only Paul and Timotheos (Timothy.) I don't know exactly why Paul and and Timothy were forbidden from preaching in Asia, because the Bible doesn't specifically say. However, given that the word was preached there by other apostles, my hypothesis is that it was to do with who God wanted to be in which place at which time. Maybe at the time Paul and Timothy could have been in Asia, God wanted them to be somewhere else, so He forbade them to go to Asia.

I believe the scripture you are referring to is Acts 16:7, "After they had come to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit did not permit them." Paul spent his years in the southern part or Greek half of Asia Minor.

But why couldn't Paul preach in Bithynia? Romans 15:20 clues us in,“Yea, so have I strived,” said Paul, “to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man’s foundation”. Who was this other man? Peter! Notice to whom Peter was addressing one of his epistles, “Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia” (I Peter 1:1). The Spirit forbade Paul to preach in the areas where Peter and some of the other apostles had carried the gospel.
