Firstly we get to look at the film Matrix where the order of things in the world of the matrix operates on a peaceful ignorance of not knowing they are deprived of choices by a controlling higher intelligence, no knowing that their feelings and reality without those choices are fake.

This OP comes from the concept that this reality we live in, is a matrix. A womb for spiritual development that is provided for us by a higher intelligence with rational conciousness the main gift in this matrix

Would you want your concious choice to be removed from this matrix and basically find peace through suppression by a higher conciousness? Blue pill

Or would you like to continue with the right to make concious choices and let it be your choice to find peace? Red Pill

As per the movie, red pill or blue pill for you, which one? (willingness to learn a potentially unsettling or life-changing truth by taking the red pill, or remaining in contented ignorance with the blue pill)

A lot of people mischaracterize the pills presented in the Matrix, not unlike the pills presented in the allegory Marx spoke about with religion being the opium of the people. It was not meant to be depreciating of religion, because opium is a necessary painkiller. Something to give hope and soothe during powerless times in unjust places. Where the criticism comes in is when that hope and power is used to ignore the plight of people now in pursuit of their own version of truth. In this scenario Marx might say your blue pill is no different than the red pill. Both of them are chasing a simple story and hierarchy because the reality is much more complex.

Lilly Wachowski, co-creator of matrix who felt it was a very personal allegory about her ordeal as a transwoman, would probably say what she said to Ivanka Trump and Elon Musk when they tried to put the 'informed' blue pill as conservatism and 'ignorant' as liberalism. "**** both of you."

Thanks for pointing out your offer of suppression by an alleged higher conciousness is ignorance represented by the blue pill.

Is that what they call a Freudian slip?

In my opinion.

Wow, people really do have their own interpretations of the the Matrix franchise. Interesting to see how it has evolved over the past 20+ years. I remember seeing it in the theater when it first came out. It had a huge impact on me when I was young and I was obsessed it for a time. It definitely helped me think differently about the world presented to me.

It could read either way suppression by or of a higher conciousness

Baha'u'llah as offered that with just one word all would of and all all become believers, which in turn indicates that choice can be taken from us.

Some say Hinduisim and Buddhism influences, another in a science blog said this;

"The Matrix is based on a philosophical question posed by the 17th Century French philosopher and mathematician Rene Descartes. One of Descartes's most important theses was intellectual autonomy, or the ability to think for oneself. For Descartes, this entails not just having a "good mind", but also "applying it well".

Bet you can find many others as well!

Interesting how people interpret what influenced the making of "The Matrix". A piece of art really becomes public property which everyone can use as they like - even though the influences and motivations of the artists are known.

In the end, it all art is relevant to the eye of the beholder and thwie nature and nurture in understanding the meaning.

I like to consider God knows all that.
