First, pick a theme song that you believe says something about a poster on RF. You can pick more than one song per poster.

Second, quote a lyric or two from the song that says the most about them.

Third, add any comments you wish to explain how either the lyrics or the music fits them.

Just to be fair, you can do the same thing, except for yourself, rather than someone else.

And you can do either as often as you like.

I'll go first to illustrate, using an example of a song I would pick for Badran:

Bruce Springsteen - Born To Run - YouTube

"This town rips the bones from your back
It's a death trap, it's a suicide rap
We gotta get out while we're young
Cause tramps like us, baby we were born to run."

I figure Badran, you need to get the hell out of town and to some place where you can make happen the things you want to make happen.

This is for Penumbra:

Anthem - Leonard Cohen - YouTube

I think the lyrics relate to you in so many ways, I'm just gonna quote all of them here:

"Anthem"

The birds they sang
at the break of day
Start again
I heard them say
Don't dwell on what
has passed away
or what is yet to be.
Ah the wars they will
be fought again
The holy dove
She will be caught again
bought and sold
and bought again
the dove is never free.

Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in.

We asked for signs
the signs were sent:
the birth betrayed
the marriage spent
Yeah the widowhood
of every government --
signs for all to see.

I can't run no more
with that lawless crowd
while the killers in high places
say their prayers out loud.
But they've summoned, they've summoned up
a thundercloud
and they're going to hear from me.

Ring the bells that still can ring ...

You can add up the parts
but you won't have the sum
You can strike up the march,
there is no drum
Every heart, every heart
to love will come
but like a refugee.

Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in.

Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in.
That's how the light gets in.
That's how the light gets in.

-----------------------------------------------------------
Lyn, these lines especially seem apt to me:

"But they've summoned, they've summoned up
a thundercloud
and they're going to hear from me."

I figure you're someone who is gonna be "heard from".

Elton John - Circle Of Life (High Quality) - YouTube

"In the circle of life
It's the wheel of fortune
It's the leap by faith
It's the band of hope
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding

In the circle, the circle of life
Some of us fall by the wayside
And some of us soar to the stars
And some of us sail through our troubles
And some have to live with the scars
There's far too much to take in here
More to find than can ever be found
But the sun rollin' high
Through the sapphire sky
Keeps the great and small on the endless round
"

John Lennon - Imagine - Lyrics - YouTube

I'm going to quote all the lyrics here because I think all of them apply to you, DS:

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people living life in peace

You, you may say
I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people sharing all the world

You, you may say
I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us
And the world will live as one

Like Lennon, you have a strongly developed sense of right and wrong that is largely at odds with the world as it is.

This is another one for Badran. I figure when he finally shows up in Colorado, we're going to spend some considerable time watching womensfolk and drinking. Hence, this song:

Counting Crows - Mr. Jones - YouTube

"Mr.Jones"

I was down at the New Amsterdam staring at this
yellow-haired girl
Mr. Jones strikes up a conversation with this black-
haired flamenco dancer
She dances while his father plays guitar
She's suddenly beautiful
We all want something beautiful
I wish I was beautiful
So come dance this silence down through the morning
Cut up, Maria! Show me some of them Spanish dances
Pass me a bottle, Mr. Jones
Believe in me
Help me believe in anything
I want to be someone who believes
Mr. Jones and me tell each other fairy tales
Stare at the beautiful women
"She's looking at you. Ah, no, no, she's looking at me."

I would say dust ithe wind for Sum of Awe, but must add that while I assume the song was meant to be "sad" I actually find it to be extremely liberating instead of sad.

This one is for StarryNightshade. It's not the lyrics this time, but the music itself that I think is relevant to him -- and quite specifically Bono's voice. His voice expresses to me a quality of seeking that borders on yearning. I figure Starry might relate to that, being something of a seeker himself.

This is another one for Debater Slayer. To me, this song is understated. Springsteen is nothing if not a passionate singer, but in this song he's remarkably restrained and understates his dissatisfaction with his life. That seems to make it all the more powerful. Maybe DS can relate to the experience of being stuck for awhile in some place where he'd rather not be.

Bruce Springsteen - I'm on Fire - YouTube

"Sometimes its like someone took a knife, baby,
edgy and dull, and cut a six inch valley
Through the middle of my soul."

This is the first one for Horrorble. Her stories of a certain bizarre religious cult make me think this song might have some small relevance to her, although I don't think the fit is a perfect one:

Eurythmics - Missionary Man - YouTube

"Oh the missionary man, he's got god on his side
He's got the saints and apostles backin' up from behind
Black eyed looks from those bible books, he's a man with a mission, got a serious mind"

I've posted this one before, but for pretty frigging obvious reasons, this should be a certain someone's theme song...

But if you want to go beyond the obvious, they're an unusual, fusion-style band, with plenty of funk and lyrics that commonly explore social and political issues.
Plus they're getting a bit long in the tooth these days...heehee

Ok here is one for you sunstone:

A big hollow man
With a fistful of sham
Came a-walking across the sea
All leathery charms
As he pinwheeled his arms
And directed his gaze at me
(He said)
God will provide the way
You read about it every day
(I'm telling ya)
All you gotta do is pray
And furnish his house with silver
