I have used it at my local park so far and have been able to locate all sorts of native flora, mostly through flower this time of year.

It also allows you to search for flora by native habitat (Canada, USA, central America , western Europe, Caribbean, North African, etc).

I have found it very informative so far. How accurate was it in your opinion? It had a hard time identifying my Irish potato plant until I used a flower photo, leaves did not work for instance.

I had a bit of trouble with a few things, but a couple others came out alright.. it'll instantly identify something like a mayapple for instance.. I learned what a Virginia creeper was, through a little elimination, I'm pretty sure. I'll try it again tomorrow, or maybe this morning.

That sounds pretty interesting, although I'm not really one to use apps like that much. I was blessed that my mom took a lot of time when my brother and I were younger and we all learned together to identify many, many plants. Today I hardly see any plants I don't recognize in our area, although we recently moved so I'm having to learn a few new ones. But we still do it the old fashioned way of paging through plant identification books, which can take a lot of time, but it's enjoyable I think. Who knows though, I might just try out the app sometime, so thanks for letting us know

Thanks for the info. I've tried a similar app in the woods but had difficulty. It needed a very concise picture and couldn't pick things out if there were other plants partly in the frame. It also had trouble only identifying leaves or leaf patterns and needed the whole plant. What this app did was make a guess and then suggest I send the picture in when it couldn't identify. It did however work a couple of times, but it couldn't identify...say...an oak branch, pinecone, sapling surrounded by ferns etc.

I LOVE plant ID, and used to carry around various ID books whenever I went hiking or just in my backyard with my sketchbook. I use Leafsnap, and that cuts down on my load.

I have any app on my phone that when I take a picture if something I don't know such as a plant or animal it will research it and seek information about it out and eventually come up with the answer.
