Play

Does play serve a purpose? Most baby animals play. Is this merely a preparation for survival or is it just play? What happens to humans who don't play? Is play necessary to our mental and physical survival? What are your thoughts?

I think play in healthy moderation is a sincere gift to one's BEing. For your mind there are puzzles for your body there is exercise and for your soul, meditation and proper sleep (I do my best playing in my sleep). It also keeps us creative and imaginative.

I think children who don't learn to play, grow into entirely too serious or unhappy adults. Children who don't play with other children lack social interaction skills later in life...it all counts for something.

But I think even Bastet will agree even adults need "play time". I have never discounted play time it is important to me today as it was when I was young. What can I say I'm a Toys 'R' Us man.

All mammals play (and apparently some birds play too), but we're the only mammal that plays with its mammalary glands. Just a thought.

Why wouldn't I agree? I have never discounted play time, it is important to me today as it was when I was young. :p I was simply addressing Lightkeeper's original post about play as a child, and how it pertains to the adult we grow into. :)
