Hmm, doesn't seem like a lot of his views match up with mine, some of this article makes him seem like a bit of an *** actually lol.

He was widely regarded as a bit of an eccentric, his stance on the issues were largely conservative (currently he endorses Romney), and yeah the quiz is crap.

Interesting.....so many find it so inaccurate.
It looks pretty spot on to me (plus or minus a dollar or two).

Maybe it works better for people who live inside the America bubble. I have a feeling my strong opinion that health care should be free - a value shared and implemented by just about every civilized society on the planet, except Americans - helped catapult me into the "authoritarian" category.

Funny, I did it again and changed ONE answer, and suddenly...

Barack Obama - one issue away from being an Argentinian Authoritarian Socialist!

Definitely broken. Obama has about as much in common with Eva Peron as a lion has with a gazelle.

Edited to add this hilariously inaccurate description of Obama's values:

"It’s no secret that you’re a liberal. You’re strict when it comes to regulating big business, but lenient when it comes to individual freedoms. The right to marry whom you want; the right of a woman to choose what she does with her body; the right to privacy; and the right to free health care are all freedoms you’re willing to fight passionately for. You’re also willing to expend the financial resources necessary to accomplish those goals. That might include some difficult decisions about raising taxes, but when it comes to our rights and freedoms, no price is too high to pay."

Took the test twice and got Thomas Jefferson Libertarian.

"You are an idealistic, sometimes to a fault. You have faith in the goodness of your fellow man, and that core belief is at the root of most of your views. You do not, however, have faith in the goodness of Big Government. The bigger it becomes the less likely it is to rule fairly and justly. Bureaucratic corruption is a serious concern of yours, and steps need to be taken to restrict the rampant growth of the government. Ultimately, though, your idealism trumps your fears of a toxic and overbearing government. Humanity, after all, will assert itself and correct its leaders when they step out of line."

I'm not American though but that's what I got. I usually supported Jack Layton as a Canadian, I left the country before he died. Being in the UK now though I have no idea.

The government, quite frankly, is too big, and you’re happy to trumpet this belief from the rooftops. It spends too much, it regulates too much, it gets embroiled in foreign affairs that it has no business getting involved with, and it constantly passes laws that simply attempt to make itself larger. How many of the country’s problems can simply be attributed to rampant bureaucracy and governmental excess? Downsize Big Government and return control to the people and you’ve got a solid foundation for prosperity and success.

If you were a Layton NDP, in the UK, you're probably an Andrew George Lib Dem. :D

Although he had his faults and flaws, Thomas Jefferson was a swell fellow. As far was U.S. Founding Fathers go, however, my favorite two are Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Paine.

Can't brain. Has dumb.
Told me I liked Barack Obama.

I didn't like the questions. Not one bit. Often I had to estimate the closest to the answer I would have given. Also, issues like marijuana laws are sooo low down the priority list, but education wasn't even asked about!

Ridiculous test, if you ask me.

It’s no secret that you’re a tyrant. You’re strict when it comes to crushing spirits, but even stricter when it comes to punishment. The right to bury whom you want; the right of a despot to choose what a woman does with her body; the right to pain; and the right to free torture are all authorities you’re willing to fight passionately for. You’re also willing to expend the financial resources necessary to accomplish those goals. That might include some difficult decisions about souls taken, but when it comes to our oppression & torments, no price is too high to pay.

As a spiritual person, you’re very concerned with human rights issues such as poverty and disease. You’re also passionate about issues that concern life and death, such as abortion and the death penalty. You believe both to be wrong; neither is ever justifiable. Environmental and conservation issues are also near and dear to your heart, although you want to balance such green concerns with economic ones. You take the same moderate approach to other hot button issues such as gay marriage, health care, and the regulation of Wall street. Cooler minds will prevail. Having a hot head never helped anyone.

I always wondered where I would lie on American politics. Like Carter while I am personally opposed to abortion (except in cases such as rape, incest or where there is threat of significant harm to the mother physically or psychologically if she continues the pregnancy. In these cases even from a moral perspective I fully understand and would never on the subjective, individual level condemn a person for having an abortion even though I still morally on the objective level grieve for the termination of any life carrying human DNA and genetic code), I would have if I had been President upheld the legality of Roe v Wade and like Carter have supported legalized abortion to whatever developmental limit in the growth of the foetus science and the state deemed to be legally permissable. Government should not be used to impose one's private, religious beliefs on others but rather should, on behalf of everyone, uphold freedom of belief and act impartially on the basis of a secular state. I believe passionately in separation of church and state.

Given that I am critical of Carter vis-à-vis Iran this surprised me, although I am moderate on most issues political and social so it does fit (even though this is just for fun of course). I suppose Carter must have been better domestically :)
