Of course, relating to females, and with regards to Iran and Afghanistan, apart from many other countries too. And seemingly, mostly about Muslims and where there might be rules/laws enforcing any particular dress code.

* Poll option: In general, that is, if it doesn't apparently cause offence to others - like how it is legal to be nude in the UK as long as such doesn't cause offence, or sufficient people don't complain over this. But they often do. And is this sufficient reason for religious dress to be enforced - that some are offended?

So, the last option might take into account the feelings of others, but it is basically we who decide as to what we wear as long as such conforms to whatever laws that obtain in our country.

What are your views on this?

I voted "The state (or authority in power) has the right to dictate such".

It is an essential part of our civilisation.
Does anybody really think that we should all go about our business in the nude?

Unfortunately dome people would be offended by someone showing a bit of nose.

Use any and all pronouns including neo and it/it's
What do you not understand about the word "civilised" ?
Are we even really civilized? I mean look at what's going on with Russia. Or the US healthcare system. Us humans really are kidding ourselves calling us civilized.

Also many countries may be more chill with nudity then others.

I've yet to vote -- in part because the poll is comical and in part because I'm still trying to determine if the title is intended to be offensive or is simply a failed attempt to be clever.

(Full disclosure: I wore a not-so-stylish kippah last night at a really good concert.)

I didn't vote because I could find one close enough to my understanding.
These 2 in some sort of combination would do:
  1. The popular vote should decide this
  2. The popular vote should indicate preference but not affect such
And even then there are human rights and minority rights, and the courts.

With all due respect, who is "we" in "our"?
Example:
-------------

Western civilisation has its roots in Christianity.
It flourished in walled cities, and people who lived there were obliged to "follow the rules".
These days, people take everything for granted.
They think they are secure etc. , but I wouldn't bank on it.

The attitude of "who cares what anybody wears", often ends up in saturday night violence here in the UK. :(

Well, there is one version of civilization most people forget. Civilization is the ability to wage war better than the other people around in the world.

No, it also has roots in the Greek, Roman and cultural influence from other cultures.

A military is not a requirement for civilization. Civilizations have a writing system, a social hierarchy, specialization, including religious specialists; monumental architecture, &c.
