I believed in Santa longed than I believed in Jesus, so I voted Santa.

Jesus. We don't really have "Santa" under that name in my country. We have Father Christmas. (They have Sintaklaas - St. Nicholas - in the Netherlands, which presumably is where the American Santa Claus comes from). But regardless of the name, he has not been a feature for me since I was a tiny kid. For the last 50 years or so Christmas for me has mostly been about carols, Midnight Mass, the Christmas tree and Christmas lunch with the extended family. So as far as persons are concerned, it's the commemoration of Jesus's birth.

I call him Father Christmas too, I strongly prefer it to Santa

But I thought more people would know what I was on about if I called him Santa in this thread

oh good heavens. I avoid both Walmart and Target, especially Target. I use Amazon.
I used to feel this way and still do most of my Christmas shopping on Amazon, but there is something to be said about being down there in the trenches. I like to go to the mall at this time of year. I don't buy anything. I just go to people watch. In fact, I'll probably go down this afternoon to get my steps in and watch the activity.

What comes to mind is stores putting out "Christmas" items well before Thanksgiving.
Right!!

I went to a store on Halloween and saw Halloween/Thanksgiving merchandising and came back the next day (yeah, I have that kinda time on my hands now), and it was Christmas.
