Saints of God, come to his aid!
Hasten to meet him, angels of the Lord!

Receive the soul of Benedict XVI and present him to God the Most High.
May Christ, who called you, take you to himself;
may angels lead you to the bosom of Abraham.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon him.

Amen.

Rest in Peace, Holy Father.
The Catholic world has been immensely proud of you.

.
RIP.
I do not mind if people die.We all have to go sometime but not in pain.He was spared a painful end thank god.I think his vocation would be as an academic in a University.Pope Francis is everyone's hero in that he speaks plain English/Italian and draws people to the church without the lengthy pontifical debates some of which is really rubbish and id shredded would not be missed by the laity.

As far as I know, Pope Francis can't speak English.

Always sad when anyone dies but this man was not a good pope by an measure
Agree. One of his worst efforts (in the view of this gay man), was his "On the Pastoral Care of Homosexual Persons," written while he was head of the dicastery Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (basically, the Inquisition). He uselessly demeaned millions of good people in that.

I think you'll find that many Catholics differ over his papacy. I found him complicated. There was Benedict XVI, and Joseph Ratzinger the theologian. As a theological advisor to the German bishops along with Hans Kung his views were more progressive. Kung later helped him secure a position, a 'chair' at the Tubingen School, which is where his theology seemed to have taken a reverse course, frustrated with the sixties, and Marxism.

I remember noting the difference between Benedict XVI and Francis I when greeting the 'flock' on the balcony. Benedict had a grin from ear to ear which seem to say 'look ma, I did it'. Francis, looking as the weight of the Church is on him,
'pray for me'.

I wonder if yelling SIEG HEIL mon Furher is an unpardonable sin?

Lets not forget this is about a 14 year old kid.

Moving on;
In dialogue with his 'favorite rabbi'
Neusner also published on a range of other topics. His 1993 book “A Rabbi Talks with Jesus” earned the praise of pope Benedict and began an interfaith dialogue with the Catholic pontiff.
For me one of the highlights of his papacy.
The Pope and I: A Debate With Jesus Is Joined By Benedict XVI – The Forward

Ah yes, the modern 'let's excoriate a still warm dead man because of something he did 50 years ago that I found on the internet' and 'he did some stuff I didn't like and what surprise I'm not even a member of his religion'.

There really is no forgiveness anymore, not even when someone's just died.

IMO, fawning over Benedict just because he's dead shows great disrespect to the people who he made to suffer.

Benedict's crimes are similar to Jeffrey Epstein's, only with orders of magnitude more victims. The difference between Benedict and Epstein - besides scale - is that Benedict died an old man in a comfortable bed without ever facing justice.
