Pope Francis Praises the Jewish People

Yes, he is very open to ecumenism and is not judgemental towards those of different faiths or atheists/agnostics. He doesn't take the "my way or the highway" approach, which is like a breath of fresh air to me.

I wonder if he'll get together with the Dalai Lama at some point in time as I do believe they have a lot in common with their openness.

Honestly, after several millenia of oppression and being conquered I just find it baffling.

I understand some of their means... But being nurtured back into establishment and conquest it's all just perplexing, to say the least...

Even though they worship a War God, if we don't all now worship War Gods... I would refuse to represent such dogma's...

But is it God's will to make Man battle? Well... That's the bottom line on my judgement...

My faith, however, doth not entirely lie in their War God... But, curses, after being conquered ten times over, I don't even know how they stomach it...

Their history must be different from my history, and my history is I would just outright defect from Israel entirely.

There may be some truth in their Bibles and dogma's, but it is not THE TRUTH.

Pope Francis is just meeting the needs of the masses, perhaps he was chosen for this.

I think that nowadays there's less of a blind belief in scriptures and also less of "my way or the highway" approach in general. However, as we've seen here many times at RF, there are still some "true believers" who go against that trend. It is quite clear that the Pope is more of the former group.

I think that the Jewish people have been a model in many ways and I thank them and I am interested in their scholarship and beliefs. Pope John Paul II apologized and what the current Pope is doing are also steps in the right direction. Like metis, I think Churches need to be more open and less "my way or the highway" (an attitude which I think comes from the Roman Empire [to some extent]).

Actually, he has.

So let me get this right.

Francis wants to appease Jews in such a way that it goes against his own religion.

The church fathwrs clearly taught people that only by accepting socalled trinity and socalled divinity of Jesus u can enter paradise.

Read an earlier post from me on this thread to get my response to your last point.

Who said the PF is saying what he has said to "appease the Jews"? He has said much the same about people in other faiths and also atheists/agnostics.

All religions have evolved and will likely continue to do so, for better or worse. Fortunately, at least in this case I believe it's for the better.

The Pope isn't just a religious leader; he's also a politician by necessity and politics involves compromise.

Why are you giving religious advice to a group not of your religion? If I tell you how Muslims should believe, wouldn't that be rather condescending of me?

Imagine a Jewish Ultra-Rabbi said Trinity is alright, is perfectly acceptable within judaism.

Would u agree with that?

Ultra-Rabbi???

Does that non-existent title come with a great Ultra-Rabbi superhero costume?

If it does sign me up.
No, it's a real title! It's from Tumah's Super-Mega-Ultra-Orthodox Judaism. Ask him if you don't believe me!
