On Monday, April 25, 2023, a procession was held to transfer the icon of the miraculous Virgin Mary, from the representation of the incarnation located in front of the Church of the Holy Resurrection to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, located in the Kidron Valley or the Gesmaniya region, in the place that witnessed important events in the life of Jesus Christ and which also witnessed ascension The body of the Immaculate Virgin from her grave to heaven through her divine son Jesus Christ. According to the law of the Orthodox Church, this holy icon must be moved from the Church of the Holy Sepulcher to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in the Old City in front of the Church of the Holy Resurrection on the 12th of April of each year and remain there until the 23rd of April, when it is returned to its home in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. And so the procession began at five o'clock in the morning from the Church of the Lady in front of the Church of the Resurrection, which is also called the Representation of the Assumption, where Archimandrite Nektarius, head of the Church of the Assumption, carried the icon of the Lady and many of the brothers of the Holy Sepulcher from bishops and fathers participated in it, and the monks and nuns carried the candles and lined up to the right and left of the icon with each Reverence and glory to the Most Holy One and followed by the multitude of worshipers from all generations reciting prayers to the Immaculate Virgin and participated in this great procession many believers and visitors who took advantage of the opportunity to be in the Holy Land and offered to participate in this great occasion. The march penetrated the streets of old Jerusalem passing through the Alam Road until they reached the Church of the Resurrection where the holy icon was placed in its place behind the tomb of the Holy Virgin and after that the Divine Liturgy was held with the participation of many priests and fathers.
