Agree, but Kamala would trigger the right the way Obama did, but more so. She not only brings Democrat and pigmented skin to the table, she has (or had) a uterus. Think about how much more they hated Obama and Hillary than Bill Clinton or Joe Biden. They hated Clinton (and Biden) for being a liberal, but at least they were white males. Add the extra hate the black one got AND the extra hate the female one got to what the white male liberal got/gets, and you would have a perfect storm of threat to the old order.

As an aside, I'm wondering if we are getting near considering COVID as endemic, that is it will always be around, like the flu, but we don't go into a panic every time someone tests positive. That (well, not panicking) was appropriate for a time, but now a vaccinated person typically has mild symptoms and those who are not, well, I guess they take their chances. People die of the flu every year but it doesn't make headlines.

Then again, it is hardly advisable to keep making concessions to those badly outdated sensibilities.
I wish him a smooth and speedy recovery. COVID is no fun, especially not for someone as old as he is.

I doubt that it is necessary. The guy has been fully vaccinated, after all, and doesn't seem to have any co-morbidities.

All those reasons have some merit, but unfortunately, I haven't seen anything like a coherent, policy-based vision for the nation or the executive. She's smart, no doubt, but I'm having trouble seeing any depth. (By the way, I'm beginning to have the same qualms about my own Prime Minister.)
That depth may be there, of course -- the VP always plays a subservient role and isn't expected to speak for executive policy. I'd just like to feel more comfortable that there's something there.
