President Bush, Jr.'s Relationship With The Lord?

Member
President Bush, Jr. recently said he could not imagine how a man could be president of the United States without a relationship with the Lord.

When politician President Bush, Jr. said he had a relationship with the Lord, what did President Bush, Jr. as a Texas Methodist mean (since in the United States today, year 2005, the Department of Education currently does not permit prayer in public schools and currently does not permit Bible reading in public schools)?

I'm not sure, but I think this might be better in the 'debates' section, unless you're wanting a general discussion. Again, I could be wrong.

If you mean to compare his saying he has a relationship with the Lord in order to contrast that with not permitting prayer in public schools or permit Bible reading in schools (Actually, I think it allows both. I believe it is the school/ authority-initiated version that isn't permitted.) then I would say "How wonderful! He believes in the separation of church and state!" And, of course, I would do so in a manner totally free of sarcasm.

Welcome to the forum (See FIH, I remembered the welcome...but it can't possibly have anything to do with your writing about it *looks off into the sky innocently*).

Can we really say, though, how it works? Unless he tells us what he means, it's all guess-work at best.
