If Georgie Porgie was the messiah, we wouldn't be at war with Iraq now would we? I just think he is full of himself and winning a second term is only going to encourage that ego of his.

Oh god. I hope to every god, goddess, and even the jotuns that would lend an ear that he isn't the Messiah... that'd just give me another reason to not be involved with Christianity!

I don't think hearing the voice of the divine makes one the Messiah, unless the standards have drastically dropped. For instance, I say I have a relationship with my gods and goddesses (the Judeo-Christian God, the Holy Spirit (as Sophia) and Jesus being among them) and that they want me to become (or continue to be) a writer and a healer. Since I see every other job in this country as being equal to the that of the Presidency in terms of importance, that doesn't mean I'm claiming to be the Messiah, unless I expressly say so. (For the record, I'm not. ) If the Shrub (thank you, Jensa, for that lovely term) declares himself the Messiah, all the Religious Right people that helped to re-elect (or elect, I should say) him are going to be blinking at the podium.
