For those who were not
  • driven by the assault on reproductive rights,
  • or guided more by ethical rather than economic concerns,
the seems insufficient reason to vote for Harris, another was clearly insufficient time and alacrity to manage such a headwind while burdened with the shortest campaign in modern electoral history. Meanwhile, Trump benefited by an extended and brilliant ground game enabled by a GOP devoid of ethical considerations.

We had similar OPs in recent time, and from those I've come to the conclusion that "people are stupid" is the main reason.
It is also the only reason that is obvious, everything else is speculation. You can ask people who voted for whom they voted and why (exit polls). You can't ask the people who weren't there.
And commentators are all over the place, because they also don't have data to back them up - just their own bias/ideology. Harris was too far to the right, Harris was too far to the left. People are too misogynistic, racist, bigoted. And some expected election fraud.

So, I really don't know.
Now, where are my crayons?

Well...
many people realized how warlike and primitive the Democratic Party is.
And voted for Trump to punish them. Out of vengeance.

:)

People are stupid is a cop out. Four years ago those same people where called smart(smartened up, etc).

Its a cop out because if their party(either) wins people are smart. If their party loses people are stupid.

I have no idea where you misplaced your crayons :p

Wrong. No one called the same people smart 4 years ago. Stop making stuff up.

Incorrect. People are stupid for the reason they vote a certain way.

1. If people voted for prices to go back to what they were under Trump, that's stupid.
2. If people voted believing the current administration was at fault for the higher prices and inflation, that's stupid.

It has nothing to do with winning or losing. It's stupid choices and ignorance that earns them the title of being stupid.

Yet there is no rational basis to have cast a vote for a criminal with mental health issues.

His cabinet picks so far indicate a more serious ineptitude than in 2017. His economic tactics have already caused businesses serious stress and uncertainty. There's no good scenario thus far. Well informed smart people knew he wasn't fit. So what justifies those who did vote for him?

You don't need to have a master degree in economics to understand that it is the wars promoted by the warlike Democratic Party (WWF), that caused inflation.
The citizens are smart. They have high IQ, despite being treated like mentally disabled people by the Dems.

Yet most of these same people also support the war in Gaza, so no. Also, everyone knows that "peace" is a bull**** pretext for cheerleading the Kremlin.

You're wrong, I am sorry.
During Trump's administration, no war broke out in Gaza. And dem voters recall that.

And they suspect this has to do with His Majesty the Sultan.

So far it's putin that's started a war in Europe. He's no democrat.

Well half the population has an IQ under 100. That would account for the 49.9% of Americans who voted for Trump.

I think with the vote swing, I see this more as a Democrat failure than a Republican success.

In 2020, Biden was running on his strength as Obama's VP. In 2024, Harris was running on her strength as Biden's VP. I think Democrat-leaning voters were less inspired and motivated by Biden's term as president than Obama's.

A few other thoughts:

- Harris didn't really seem free to have her own campaign. Circumstances meant that she couldn't put forward a platform that was a marked departure from Biden's approach.

- I think Harris positioned herself too far to the right. I'm sure this was an attempt to pick up undecided voters who might swing either way, but it also alienated progressives, so the net effect was a loss of votes.

Btw, If all you can add is 'people are stupid', then go play with your crayons

As much as you might want to ignore it, I think it's worth flagging the fact that one big difference between 2020 and 2024 is that in 2024, millions of American voters were living with cognitive dysfunction as a long-term effect of having had COVID.

I generally don't use terms like "stupid," but I do think it's accurate to say that overall, Americans just weren't thinking as clearly in 2024 as they were in 2020. How much did this help Trump? Hard to say.

Look at you acknowledging putin is a warmonger. Ask why he doesn't end the war without some deal.
I don't think you dems are in good faith.
You do know that the Warlike Dem Party is paying Ukraine to fuel this war, so it lasts for eternity.

It's useless you guys keep gaslighting us.
The game is over.
Trump has won.
