Some are saying the law that says a sitting president cant prosecuted or punished for committing crimes is saying being a President means having consequences to crime and illegal behavior, you can commit all the crimes you want and be protected, the President is God. He has the right to everything he wants no questions asked .I think we should change the law instead of trying to get Trump, if the laws change we could get him on the Hush money case, maybe we won't but we could keep someone else from pulling the crap he has.
That's what Trump thinks, but he is wrong.
The President and members of Congress are immune to prosecution by the courts (so that they can't be sued for political reasons), but they are still responsible to their peers and can be impeached.
The next thing is that Trump isn't in Office, yet. He is already convicted on 34 counts of fraud, and the sentencing is scheduled for later this month. So, if there was a functioning justice system in the US, he could go to prison before he is inaugurated.
He may also have to face the other charges of election interference and theft of secret documents. I don't know enough about it, but those cases have been brought before he entered office.
But those are legal theoretical cases. I expect the US legal system to work as it always has - with special treatment for the rich and powerful.
And the US public is fine with it because they are criminals at heart.
