President's Day -- Ranking the Presidents

He always spoke very highly of you... but his placement matters little to me.... but I still am incredibly surprised that Bidden is 14th, I would rate him much lower
In my opinion, which clearly isn't reflected in the chart, it could be he hasn't been among the most destuctive or least effective. Far from the best but at the same time the competition is rather bleak for the most part. Amd then there's Harrison who was president for about a month, Garfield a few months and Taylor a bit over a year.

I'm surprised that James Madison ranked so high (#11). I heard that he panicked when the British entered Washington to burn the Capitol and White House. While he panicked, it was his wife, Dolley Madison, who was able to direct the evacuation of the White House and was able to save the portrait of George Washington, among other valuables. At least she kept her cool.
He's credited as the architect of the separation of church and state. Amd the War of 1812 did solidify amd reinforce America's sovereignty as well as expell English forces from America.

I think Victoria, Elizabeth I and Elizabeth II would top such a list

But I'm no history nerd so perhaps not
From what I hear from the English that seems the most likely candidates.
But if it was me I'd start claiming Alfred as the first amd best because it was his idea to unify the English speaking kingdoms to form England amd I'm not aware of other monarchs who faced such incredibly staggering odds to rise from total defeat to reclaim his thrown and set up the eventual unification of England.

Yes, and they didn't call him "Alfred The Great" for nothing!

Is that why Americans want abortion, agree with Dems on climate change, support LGBT rights and better welfare programs for the poor while ending socialism for the wealthy and corporations?
Is that why undergraduate enrollment in colleges and universities is down 15% since 2010 and still dropping with no end in sight?

"Nice" stereotype. Got any more while you're at it?

So, what you're basically saying above is that if one is an intellectual, then they also are a phony? I disbelieve even most elementary school kids could see through that stereotype.
Nice attempt at putting words in my mouth. I'm saying that a poll about Presidents from among a group that is only made up of Leftists is rubbish.

I was referring to the stereotypes you used in posts #70 & 71.

I believe that it's likely most of us here were brought up and taught that we shouldn't use stereotypes, so is it that your parents didn't teach you that or that you just chose to ignore them?

He's definitely one of my favorite historical figures. In a time of warrior kings, Viking invasions and might is right he reconsidered what it means to be a king, seriously defended his people, built orphanages, promoted literacy, all while suffering some terrible digestive issues (many say probably Crohn's but that level of stress makes possible for a nasty case of IBS).
Alas it's going off topic because it is such a fascinating topic. Americans could definitely learn from it.

That's called unreasonable debt burden. Try to gauge what Americans actually want. Like how Republicans were denied a blue wave and consistently lose when they bring abortion up for a vote.

I presume you meant a red wave. Tell it to now ex-Speaker Pelosi.

Yes, I meant red wave. The ending of Roe v Wade denied that to Reps.
Abortion is not among the most important issues to voters according to polls such as the Harvard CAPS-Harris poll. Immigration and inflation are the most important issues among voters. Followed by the economy and crime. Abortion is way down the list.
