Priest refused to absolve me :-(

So, I went into the confession booth and confessed my sins and said, "Father, I believe God is responsible for all the evil in our world because he gives the devil permission to deceive, torment, and possess people. God is responsible for confusion because he refuses to speak clearly and guide people, which is why muslims, Mormons, protestants, Catholics, and Heretics all think they have the truth. It is because God refuses to guide those who seek the truth. But I'm sorry for my sins".

The priest responded, "You accuse God of evil, I cannot absolve you of your sins".

So, it made me feel like a bad guy, but I was just being honest. Anyway, the Church teaches that God can provide all of the sacraments without the help of a priest. I hope that God absolved me lol.

Any thoughts?

You should just become an Anglican. That's my thoughts. Absolution isn't mandatory there.
The Anglican Church doesn't date back to the time of Christ...Plus, I don't like the King who founded the Anglican Church...I'm a Catholic Shaman...I pray to and keep shrines to the souls of many people that are not canonized by the Church and who weren't even Catholic

Happy birthday, PopeADope!

Can you find a priest who will do more to help you with your doubts? Sounds like the guy you got hold of just wants to punish you.

Yeah, I keep in contact with a retired priest who would visit me in the hospital. I'll try to keep my venting to him...but it just seems like the confession booth is the perfect place to vent frustration at God...guess I was mistaken

Neither does the Roman Church, nor is it catholic. The Church Fathers were all Hellenist/Roman founders, and not dating to the the life of Jesus.

I do not like Constantine nor his mother, either.

As far no absolution from a Roman priest; no loss. It is best to give up the ghosts of past paradigms and mythologies.

some people church shop, but it looks like you may be into priest shopping.

There is a paradox of contradictions of the frustration between belief and disbelief. The Roman Church is as it is, and not how you want it to be.

Sounds like the retired priest is a good choice. Good luck!

Your priest is full of ****! You did not accuse God of evil. You did not say, "God is responsible for all the evil in our world."
You said, "I believe God is responsible for all the evil in our world."
This statement says something about you, and not about God.
Belief (i.e. probability judgment) is an involuntary act. You cannot willfully change what you believe to be probable. The only willful act you did was to admit what you believe. Admission of your own mental and spiritual condition is part of what they tell you to do in confession.

Good points crudely put.

Why not just talk to God directly? I wouldn't put any faith in a priests ability to absolve me of anything.

Catholic priests can only absolve the sins of Catholics. To be absolved you must have contrition for your sins. Accusing God of blasphemy is not contrition.

It is like taking a Malpractice Lawsuit to your doctor on the first visit.
