I presume (forgive me if I am wrong) that world news watchers from many countries will have heard of the hastily arranged pop concert which took place last night here in the U.K., the purpose of which was to raise funds for the tsunami appeal.
Many famous Pop artists gave their time to join in what turned out to be a fantastic concert, with an Audience of 61,000; £1.25Million( just short of U.S$ 3 Million) was raised in the selling of tickets; had there been the room for more, I am sure the numbers would have been even greater. If I'm correct, that comes to U.S $ 49 per ticket.
Fine. A wonderfull gesture.However...............
I was disgusted to hear that some people had bought 'bundles' of tickets, to resell them on E Bay, for up to U.S$ 750 ! - thereby using an honest, well intentioned fund raising effort to line their own wallets!
I suppose I should be used to the depths of vile behaviour by some individuals, but I was shocked, and greatly saddened.
